Dear Tutor,
In the first scenario how is the decision to recognise at FVTPL and not just FV.
Please explain in what situations you would use both.
I have watched the lecture but cannot understand why except that you have stated FVTPL is default.

Hi,
I’m sorry but I don’t quite get your point. We have either FVTPL or FVTOCI for our equity investments. They are all classified as FVTPL unless there is an intent to hold the financial asset for the foreseeable future, in which case it is FVTOCI.
