A company needs to produce 340 liters of chemical x. There is a 10% of normal loss on input. In a given month the company produced 340 liters although there was an abnormal loss of 5%. How many liters of materials were input to the process?
October 3, 2017 at 8:38 am #409326In future, please do not simply set test questions and expect full answers.
You must have an answer in the same book in which you found the question, and so you should ask about whatever it is in the answer you are not clear about – then I will help.If you do not have a printed answer then it is either because you have been set this question as a test (and we are not a test answering service), or you are not using a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers (and you must, because they contain exam standard questions together with answers and workings).
Given that the total loss is 15% of input, the output must be 85% of the input. Therefore the input must have been 340 / 85% = 400 litres.
I do suggest that you watch my free lectures on this. The lectures are a complete free course for Paper F2 and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.
