I did P2 and P7 in December 2014. I think I did not do well, but I am working on passing them in June 2015, iA.
P2 was just a nightmare, as I mentioned earlier, God knows what the P2 examiner wants to prove? Does he want to prove that we lack “the grey matter”? Maybe?
Gabriel, I totally agree with you. I mean I was already struggling with P2 :/ but what made it worse was that the actual exam paper was so strange and not like previous P2 exam papers…
P2 for me is like an Alien Territory (Ashridge portfolio).
Low benefit, and literally even lower feel…
By the way it is a good matrix (feel/benefit) to support decision about choosing optional papers – I see many questions here on forum for advice which paper to choose.
Hi, I got an unsettling sms from ACCA today saying, “You only have 2 exam papers left to do early entry closes 8 March so take advantage! Enter today and restart your journey to membership. Log in to myACCA”.
why would they send me this when I just wrote the last 2 papers in Dec.
Did anyone else get this sms?Don’t bother too much about it – to be honest till 8th of February this statement is valid 🙂
I think ACCA deliberately used P2 and P4 to frustrate candidates, so that they can sit again and ACCA can earn more. Otherwise, why did the P2 examiner abruptly turn into a very harsh examiner?
well Elia-Shar-eK I’m basing my comments on what I read where the exam reviews of the P2 Dec 2014 exam from PQ magazine yesterday.
Kaplan says “For P2, PQs with a strong knowledge of consolidation as well as good overall exam technique will get the pass mark they deserve. It is a shame, however, that
so many requirements across the P2 exam tested non-core knowledge that is
buried deeply within the accounting standards. Students will have been
frustrated they were tested on such detail and niche areas”Becker professional education says ” P2 (INT) was demanding in the
extreme after the big improvement in the June 2014 exam and on the December
2013 exam. There were far fewer obvious ‘easy’ mark-earning opportunities. Too
much emphasis on business combinations and financial instruments (again) made it unbalanced. Many of the specific issues were peripheral and Q4 is
no longer the ‘topical question’ but whatever the examiner wants to examine.”LSBF says “This was a hard exam even by the challenging standards of P2 Corporate Reporting.
To start positively, the last question was an accessible question looking at impairment. It was based upon recent European Securities and Markets Authority research into consistency in impairment reporting. But the great thing about this question was that although knowledge of this research would have given students a feel for the politics, the question in no way required this knowledge.
The groups question was awkward. The narrative was fine but in the numbers there were two negative fair value adjustments and also a joint operation flipping into a joint venture. Then the two mix questions sitting in between looked into specialised accounting. Even specialists working in banking and shipping would have found these two tough.

So clearly Elia-Shar-ek, as Becker and LSBF put it, it was demanding (hard) to the extreme and therefore I think that Dec 2014 wasn’t fair at all. Have you looked at the paper yourself? Personally, looking at June 2011, the consolidation was a free scoring element (it was on foreign subsidiaries) and maybe question 2 was a bit of a problem; however, question 1 had a lot of good chances of scoring. So I don’t think you are right to say that the exam is easier than ever when the top UK colleges and tutors don’t recommend that fact!
why on earth would Elia-Shar-eK wish for students to fail? Why are you wishing for the passing rate to come down? Don’t you want students to prosper?
@ifeoma i agree that must be really scary… but i think it was a generic sms because there’s no way u can enter for exams currently until after 8th Feb..
@abdul for your sake I also reproduce the reviews on the Dec 2014 P7 exam. Lisa weaver was judged as follows:
Kaplan financial “P7 was very straightforward.” That it, just a line from Kaplan.
Becker professional education says “P7 (INT) yet again this exam failed to

through past examination questions with the examiner’s reports is key to obtaining a pass mark.”First intuition ” P7 was a very consistent and fair paper, well written as usual”
So @abdul these are good news for you, you will finally become a finalist.
@Gabriel i think Elia-Shar-eK has checked the infamous link and found out that he has passed, thats why he’s talking like that.

I wonder why open tuition doesn’t produce reviews on the exam papers? I think they should
@ Elia-Shar-eK you complain that why should we get an easy paper when you got a hard one but in an earlier post, on this thread, you were the one telling people to stop this “nonsense” and convincing them that all papers are standard and there is no hard or easy paper than the other so why contradict yourself now?
And one last thing, the guys at the top UK colleges making reviews are experts in their field, they are very highly qualified and have been teaching for many years and have seen many exams and many students so it really doesn’t bother them whether you take their opinion or not. Seeing one or two students pass, in the way you describe, doesn’t mean that their reviews are inaccurate. We are talking about the average student here.
whatever Elia-Shar-eK I don’t want to argue with you. This thread is supposed to be for students who are awaiting their results, not for people who’ve finished exams like yourself.
guys cool off… we’re all waiting for results i understand the tension but we need to relax a bit
@ Kibalka, I hope you are right. Anyway, no need disturbing my mind. It’s either a pass or a fail. I choose to think “pass”. Lol
@Elia-Shar-eK you are bang out of ordering with your comments and your arguments is so flawed that it baffles. To wish others fail in order to massage your ego into believing that you somehow superior shows your insecurities. Your unique selling point ought to be you and not the detriment of others.
What I would say is good luck to you and everyone; I truly hope everyone can pass.

@Elia-Shar-eK all I’m saying is the pass rates @ P-level is pretty consistently low, so don’t make people feel like they are sitting inferior exams. ACCA hasn’t changed the rules to my knowledge, irrespective of your opinion.
From the posts above I can say
1. The tension about results is real
2. ACCA illuminati confirmed
3. Now I’m even more convinced about my decision of not taking P4.
4. Tutor providers which published their opinions have an objective view on the exam. You can also assume that the published opinion from them is less harsh than their ‘real opinion’.
