Hey guys so I wanted to make this post so that we can all share tips that are not usually mentioned in other places which we believe are crucial to passing the exam.
Let`s help each other out and maybe John can also add some more tips, comment on the tips to improve them or give further advice on them.
Good luck with your exams! 🙂
August 30, 2016 at 11:38 am #336219I`ll go first. I have so far found 2 tips that I believe are crucial for this exam.
1. Reading MCQs
It would sound silly but I know how many silly mistakes I made when solving the kit on MCQs. Eg. The question would state “which of the following is NOT true?”Then there would be 4 options, 3 of them would be advantages, and 1 would be a disadvantage. If you get distracted in between reading and answering the question you will pick the odd one out. Which is the disadvantage and not the statement which is actually not true.
It is extremely easy to make this mistake which is why it is crucial that you not only make sure you are fully focused when doing each question. You could take a quick break after doing a specific question. If you have time for a break since these exams are really well timed.
Also, try your best to recheck your answers after as well.So once again, focus is crucial. A silly error here is very easy to make despite how easy the question might be.
2. Section C questions
My next tip would be that you should write until your hand gets tired. Until you exhaust your points. This is of course assuming that you are an average student and not some crazy genius who remembers everything from the text book.A 5 mark question should be given appropriate attention. 5/100*195= 9.75 minutes.
A 5 mark question deserves that much time. If you don`t give it that time you will not be able to score full marks on the question. Which will lead to you finishing the exam early and wondering what everyone else is doing, but ending up disappointing when you see your results.
Of course you have to make sure that you are able to move on and if you run out of points to make for a question then move on with the next question. Invest the time saved in another question or on rechecking the MCQ for silly errors which could cost you dearly.
Another small tip regarding this is that you must always refer these answers to the question in any way you can.
