The Kaplan F3 book refers to three credit rating agencies, Moody’s, Fitch and Standard and Poor’s but doesn’t give much information about them. I’ve seen questions on Aptitude that seem to relate to Standard and Poor’s or Fitch, (but not Moody’s which look slightly different) which gave the ratings, AAA, BB, … and asked which were investment grade. I’ve found information that investment grade is AAA to BBB- and BB+ and lower are non investment grade.
Do we need to know any more than this about the ratings and do we need to know short term ratings as well as long term ratings?
Do I need to know Moody’s scale as well as the other two, I don’t think I’ve seen questions using that scale but I don’t want to be caught out in the exam.

That is pretty much all you need to know, you’re studying to become an accountant and not an analyst specialising in debt investments.
Thanks
