Who should NOT prepare a payables control account?
A) Accounts supervisor
B) Purchases day book clerk
C) Sales day book clerk
D) Assistant accountant
Sir can you please explain me how the answer is “B”. As the purchase ledger clerk has most important character in payables section.
The purchase day book is not the purchase ledger – it is simply a list of invoices received.
The clerk preparing the list does not do any double entries and does not enter anything in the control account.
Thank you sir. But still I could not get how the answer is B not ‘C’.
Please help me understand the question and answer. Thank you.
The answer is both B and C. Neither of the clerks is involved in preparing any accounts. The purchase day book clerk simply lists purchased invoices and the sales day book clerk simply lists sales invoices.
Have you watched my free lectures on Books of Prime Entry?
No sir, actually I have started to watch lectures now. I was unaware of this site before. Next month, I am having my paper so little short of time. I will surely watch.
I hope you find them useful 🙂
