Why goodwill impairment is again divided into nci and group Retained earnings when already goodwill impairment is deducted during calculation of consolidated goodwill ?
Hi,
Don’t forget that the goodwill impairment requires a double entry to be recorded within the group accounts. The deduction of it from the goodwill figure is effectively the debit entry, whilst the entry to NCI and Group RE is the credit entry. This is allocating it to both the NCI and the parent under the full goodwill method.
Thanks
