    Hi sir,Ive gone through your video lectures for (Basic consolidation) and Sir John Moffat video as well,but im confuse at the retained earnings part,why in your video you did not add up both the parents and subsidiary figure instead it is the balancing figure and in Sir John Moffat video,he add up the figure for both parents and subsi

    Can you clarify it for sir?

    Hi,

    We introduce it as a balancing figure to get the fundamental concept of control understood but then look at it in more depth where we explain that it is calculated as 100% of the parent’s RE plus P’s share of S’s post acquisition movement, thus showing the ownership in the equity section.
