Hi Ken hope you are doing well, i am going to resit for apm in june, could you please guide me how to study apm in a way so that i can clear it with good marks? Any resources do you suggest?
Regards
Sorry to hear you have to resit.
Assuming you have reasonable technical knowledge already (eg you can do a simple EVA calculation etc), there is little point in ploughing through a text book again. Go there only in response to identified knowledge gaps.
Suggestions are:
1 If you haven’t done so already, read the technical articles in the ACCA site. These often present information in a fresh way.
2 Concentrate on question practice as this is an exam that emphasises application, not knowledge. Approach questions by focusing like a laser on the question requirements ensuring that you accurately address these. Use information in the questions that allow you to tailor your answers to the specific question rather then being generic. First approach the questions on a ‘common sense’ basis and only when youn have done that see if your answers could be given structure and strength by a suitable model or framework. This will stop you explaining models and help you to apply models as a way to help you formulate an answer.
3 After you try a question, either fully or in note form, be very critical of your attempt when you read the model answer. Did you address the requirements? Did you make use of question specifics? Did you make enough points? We often concentrate on seeing if our calculations were accurate, but there’s often much more to a decent answer than the calculations.
thanks, also how many past papers should be done?
