Thank you all for your patience. It seems this investigation is likely to take as much time as was originally indicated in the e-mail. Although ACCA hopes that the investigation will not continue beyond the exam entry deadline (1 February), if it does, students affected by the delay will still be allowed to enter and ACCA will honour the standard entry exam fee.

@kim smith
can u tell us that will they release our results on 9th February or will update us on the matter being investigated
and actually what type of investigation is going on and why its taking too long to investigate?
as acca is not giving any update on the matter till now
your response to will be appreciated thanks!February 5, 2021 at 8:45 am #609271@irtazanaveedmalik – I only have confirmation of the information that other students have posted to this thread – that there is an investigation and the original communication indicated further contact “initially within two weeks” – and a further e-mail asked candidates to respond to a survey request by 1st Feb with next contact indicated on 9th.
Presumably you were asked to respond to the survey and perhaps can glean something from that about the matter. Like any investigation there will be matters to remain confidential and given the seriousness of “a breach of ACCA exam regulations” that presumably affects more than just a few individuals there will be a strict due process to be followed.

Head of Exam DeliveryFebruary 11, 2021 at 2:52 pm #610050@accountant100 – thank you for sharing this – I heard just an hour ago that an e-mail was expected today. I share your relief!
February 12, 2021 at 10:05 am #610121Hi, I’ve been silently monitoring this thread since day 1. I was confident that I would be absolved. I got the following email instead for my TX-UK exam.
…”In the case of your sitting, I am sorry to confirm that our investigation has highlighted significant concerns which means we will be withholding your results.
As a result, your case will be referred to ACCA’s Professional Conduct department who will be in touch in due course. If you have already made an entry for the March 21 session, your entry will be withdrawn and a credit will be applied to your MyACCA account within the next 2 working days.”…
I have never cheated on an exam. Worked hard for 2 months and this is what I get. Completely baffled. Any suggestions as to the best course of action?
February 12, 2021 at 2:26 pm #610156@Genericusername – I’ll try and find out more for you but please be aware that it is nearly the weekend here so I wouldn’t expect to have any more information for you before next week.
February 12, 2021 at 3:53 pm #610168Same here, I was also reading the comments and hoping i would get my result soon but mine also got referred to professional conduct. I dont remember doing anything against the rules or cheating!! Is Acca picking out students randomly? Because this is very stressful!!
February 12, 2021 at 5:53 pm #610176@tweetaccountancy – no ACCA is not “picking out students randomly”. What is unprofessional is that some students were undoubtedly in breach of exam rules – not just individually but in concert with others. They have, through their selfishness, implicated others. In only 3 weeks ACCA has been able to eliminate some students from the scope of the investigation. I have been involved in all aspects of ACCA for more than 30 years – as a tutor, content writer, managing director of a training company, examiner, marker …. and have advised clients and their students on matters of misconduct. I will do my best to advise users of this forum and have made enquiries. However, as in the exam rules, I ask that we keep this thread professional: “18. For all exams including remotely invigilated exams; students must not conduct themselves in an inappropriate way (including conducting themselves in vulgar, offensive, abusive, or any illegal activity).”
As for any professional body, exam regulations are necessarily extensive https://www.accaglobal.com/sg/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/rules-and-regs/exam-regulations.html and it is possible to be in breach of rules without “cheating”. Matters are referred to the Professional Conduct for further investigation and follow up of the findings of the initial investigation.
You will see here that after further investigation, any disciplinary proceeding will be brought against individuals https://www.accaglobal.com/in/en/about-us/regulation/disciplinary-and-regulatory-hearings/decisions-disciplinary/decisions-of-acca-disciplinary-committees-2020.html – and also that, if found guilty of misconduct, there is a right to appeal.

@Kim, How does the professional conduct committee work? Will it be making the final decisions or will we be referred to another one if the investigation still goes on?
February 12, 2021 at 6:58 pm #610180@Anonymous – I made enquiries today about the process and will post here as soon as I have confirmation. But as far as I am aware the Professional Conduct department handles the investigation and, if an assessor determines that there is sufficient evidence for a case to be answered, it will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for a formal hearing.
February 13, 2021 at 6:25 am #610193Thank you very much for your assistance Kim, I highly appreciate it. This clarifies the issue at hand.
February 16, 2021 at 11:10 pm #610676Hello, @kim smith do you have any update on this professional conduct department response?
I have heard from someone that they might months or upto year to contact backFebruary 17, 2021 at 9:26 am #610724@readerview – I will post here whenever I have something to add. Who is “someone”? I am pretty sure “in due course” will not be a year – though I would expect weeks rather than days.
February 17, 2021 at 12:18 pm #610745@kim student from Karachi told me that he went ACCA office there and met Vice President ACCA who himself told him that I have conducted investigations before and it took 3 months, sometimes it takes 6 to 8 months to resolve issue and till then you won’t be able to appear in exams
February 17, 2021 at 2:55 pm #610757After going over all the rules and regulations for remote examinations, it seems like the rules page has changed significantly since I last looked at them a week before the examination.
I don’t even know if they are investigating me because of what @kim said or because of any other reason unbeknownst to me. For all I know they could expel me, impose a hefty fine or simply let me go with a warning.
For reference here is what Kim said:
“is that some students were undoubtedly in breach of exam rules – not just individually but in concert with others. They have, through their selfishness, implicated others.”I was just on the phone with an ACCA CS and will not tell me how long it will take. I would’ve booked a session CBE at the nearest center since commercial vaccinations are starting next week in Karachi, but they won’t allow it during the investigation.
@readerview If that’s true, I could start a new life in 6-8 months. I looked over at several cases at the link Kim gave, most “Decisions of ACCA’s Disciplinary Committees 2020” take at least 6 months to a year. There are some whose decisions have taken up to 2 years to reach. We need a reasonable time frame. We can not put our lives on hold because of “in due course”, even during a pandemic. Kick me out in a week? fine by me. Absolve me after 6 months or more? Ehh… And on top of it all there apparently is an appeal process after this.
February 18, 2021 at 8:20 am #610824@genericusername in September remote exams there were cheating cases or students were banned they must have included in their rules all the dos and don’ts, we have invested our years in this qualification and now we are treated as criminals because of slight issue washroom break, charger and extension correction being within the camera these are not major issues, if were they should not allow remote exams in future just to make money. What are we supposed to do after 24 or 25 years again graduation. There is no clear response from them and I have heard teachers in Islamabad that if you ask them in mails or reason them means you are putting pressure on the team and decision will be taken accordingly.
