I don’t think mentioning performance prism was a good idea as it was taken out of the syllabus for this sitting@vinia, I said “in my head”.. I didn’t mention performance prism. Mentioning Stakeholder satisfaction and contribution however was probably not a good idea.
Here’s the downside of not reading the based on syllabus and might be penalised for that.September 8, 2016 at 5:01 am #338888AnonymousInactive- Topics: 1

This paper was not bad to me at all, I just didn’t have enough time to articulate what I wanted to write properly in the allotted timeframe.

Left 8 marks because of time.I struggled with profit and capital measurements. Anyone got that?
I just think, the ROCE should reflect the primary objectives of the organisation, eg maximize the shareholder returns, therefore the Profit should be : Net Profit ( residual value available to shareholder) and Captial is Equity, the solely contribution from Shareholders, anyone think like me?
September 8, 2016 at 7:56 am #338933What was question 4 part a trying to ask? The requirement didn’t make any sense, I talked about how csfs focus the organisation but couldn’t really come up with much else!
The scenarios were too long, when I picked up the paper I thought it felt thicker than usual (this is my 4th sitting)
I felt really prepared for this sitting but just could digest the scenarios quick enough, seriously thinking of switching to P7 now!
September 8, 2016 at 8:50 am #338956The question 2 part b VFm I got they were good VFM. They had saved 433000 people from going to hospital rather than directly going to hospital which is 40 times costlier than this service. They had saved about $40m as opposed to their $4m cost.
also they had lower cost per call and cost per saved hospital visit?Am I wrong????
September 8, 2016 at 8:56 am #338957And for benchmarkING I wrote it was absurd to compare the health service which provide 24/365 to tax 9 to 5 260 days and already had info on their computers while medical had to analyse the info given by caller to make decision…?
Will I get any marks???

i felt this paper was very time pressured. Spent too long on q1.
September 8, 2016 at 10:09 am #338975Hi Nicki I had the same problem with number 4 a) I rushed to answer before I read through the whole scenario and realised my answer didnt even make sense at all 🙁

A very very time pressured exam. This is my third time doing this and again ran out of time.
This exam is a reading one, the less you write the more you read the better I think, I never learn though.
I also think the less you study the better. It is probably the one exam that tests real intelligence and creativity. It is on the face of it an excellent exam with a really clever examiner.

Do not blame the examiner, we should blame ourselves, the examiner is very very good and tests real application skills and 3 dimensional thinking. Not an exam to parrot information.

I’m convinced there was a word missing from this – Part 4a did not read clearly, in fact it didn’t actually make sense. I even wrote the question out. I think the word ‘COULD’ was absent?
Anyone else feel this?

You mean the benchmarked call centre was a tax office one? I must have missed read it completely. I thought it was another govt HEALTHCARE centre. Must have been the panic button. I only left 35 min for that qn.Btw you are P7 student, can you compare the difficulty of P7 to P2 and P5? I’m struggling with P5 but hated P2 which is why I never thought about P7.

I genuinely think Q4) a) was missing a verb.
It didn’t read clearly, and didn’t actually make sense.
I read, re-read and then again – convinced the word ‘COULD’ was missing. Can’t remember the exact question, but I was that confused I wrote my concern before attempting to answer.
September 8, 2016 at 1:13 pm #339041I thought the scenarios in part 2 were very long. Hated Q1. It was very bitty.
However, i was very strict on time and only used the 1.8 min per mark times. If i hadn’t finished writing i just left a gap and moved on.
Much preferred last sittings paper. If i could have remembered how to calculate EVA i would have passed so rather annoyed at that. I expect to be resitting in Dec, but will cross that bridge when the results come out.
Onwards to P3….

I hope you’re not as i got the same 433k and savings of about $36M.

Glad I wasn’t the only one to think that. I was re-reading that several times and it just simply didn’t make sense. Poorly constructed grammar.
I am going to comment about this in the exam survey that comes out later. I would advocate everyone to do the same for moderation purposes.

Yeah I’ll do the same. It definitely didn’t make sense!!
Are these the surveys that are sent to us via email? I usually ignore them…

Yes, at the end of the exam week usually.
They ask you to rate difficulty (in terms of how you felt) and comments on the paper itself.
September 8, 2016 at 4:00 pm #339089I had to leave A and tackle B and C first and then say something here as it was not clear what was being asked.
Also why does all the question have to have so much reading, you have a lot to read then formulate an answer.
If I had more time better I would feel more confident in passing (or i just should have practiced more, writing the answers not just reasoning them out in my head)
September 8, 2016 at 4:51 pm #339098the same problem, too much reading, couldn’t complete within time, about 15minutes gap. but a pass should be secured. actually q3 is a simple question but not attenpted much probably due to lengthy question.

q4 was some serious jargon(csf&kpi have never been that confusing.
Q3 needed time which jus wasn’t there.
Q2 was a given jus needed time to understand e scenario
Q1 was ok but time consuming gosh too much writing like really.
3qs in 3hrs w all that data ts beyond me…
#prism in yo head tots funny…
#lets jus work on qs under exam conditions guys coz rily how else will we pass?September 8, 2016 at 6:14 pm #339142Hi All,
Hope you are all well. Can you please advise me if you used the STUDY TEXT or COURSE NOTES for self study revision for the P5 Exam.
And if the study text was used which is over 500 pages long, in how long did you complete it in.
Please do reply back, many thanks in advance.
September 8, 2016 at 8:06 pm #339187Hi, I used the Kaplan materials – the complete text and the exam kit (it was a self study).
I started with the complete text at July-end, it took me ~2 weeks to finish the book and I practised the questions afterwards. When I realized that I forgot the theory on some area, I revised that part of the syllabus again..I wish all the students here good luck with exam results)

Were you working full-time while it took you 2 weeks to complete the whole study text.
Please reply back, thanks.Regards,
September 9, 2016 at 12:01 am #339222u can switch to P7 if you haven’t taken it. if u can give the same effort you are giving to P5 i’m sure you will pass. i have done that already and passed p7. just left with one more which is p5. But remember you will adopt a similar approach like your days of F4. learn to quote a bit of popular IAS and ISAs. e.g this company has not valued inventories correctly in accordance with IAS 2 Inventories, therefore their inventories may be overstated
