Bascially 71% of people who sat P5 failed. Even with 4 sittings a year pass rates still remain the same. I wish I had done P6..
Failed 6th attempt now and I’ve just realised how much money I’ve spent 🙁 Some of my colleagues have done ACA/CIMA instead and are done.
I might give P5 1 last attempt….We can’t give up ACCA is not easy!!! If it was everyone would be doing it.

It’s easy to say never give up but there are plenty of people who have done this paper over 5 times, it just isn’t worth the time and money. Pass rate of 29% this time round, it really isn’t worth the bother for me.January 15, 2018 at 10:39 pm #430311Failed and lost my P2 under 7 years rule. Giving up .

Finally passed with 54 on my 4-th attempt.
This time the preparation was the same as for previous attempts; the only difference – I took vacation for monday and tuesday for “full immersion”.
and for sure – God helped me.January 15, 2018 at 11:48 pm #4303271st attempt 37 June 2017. 2nd attempt September 2017 49 (after definitely putting my head on a block and assuming i passed) and now 40. I will attempt it in March.

Third attempt and failed again with 40
January 16, 2018 at 5:44 pm #4305982nd attempt and passed with 55. It was my last exam!
It was really difficult to motivate myself for preparation. I planned to give up in case of failure but something helped me.I do not think that my preparation this time was more serious then last time. I think that this time I was more lucky as exam contained more topics I understood better and I made smarter choice of questions.
The idea of looking at the questions from position of owner/consultant really helped me.Thanks for all help!
I wish all the best for all P5 takers!January 16, 2018 at 7:46 pm #430622Does anyone have expired professional papers? Any chance of extension?
January 17, 2018 at 12:39 am #430674This is my last exam and I am so disappointed that I failed. I am so tired of these exams. I always get depressed and feel so dumb

I watched a video , the tutor said that 90 percent of the students that seat for the exam have all the knowledge. It is just a matter of exam techniques. This is so stupid, as an ACCA student I need the knowledge. What the hell I am going to do with exam techniques in my life. This so stupid that we need to seat for the exam for at least 3 times and waist couple of hundred pounds just because of techniques.
January 18, 2018 at 7:24 pm #431131Failed 7th time got 41%.
This is my final paper.
I am changing to P6 for March sitting.
I am tired of this exam its a lucky dip…January 19, 2018 at 11:12 am #431272AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

January 21, 2018 at 5:30 pm #431849Hi Michelle
In regards to your comment, I am coming from P6 (UK) and I gave up after failing once as I realised that every year you need to buy a new book and get familiar with new tax rates, exemption limits and the syllabus changes. Also to start P6 you must have all F6 theory in your head and be ready to apply it in a difficult scenario. P6 is written in a very confusing way and it will be easy only if you are working already in Tax.
Hope this helpsJanuary 21, 2018 at 5:39 pm #431850HI Marcellec
I am in your same identical position.. this is my last exam and so demotivated.
I don’t need any more knowledge than what I already have about P5 for my job and failing this exams with marks between 40% and 49% is so annoying. We know the stuff just need practice according to ACCA examiner and time constraint which is not what real life requires. It is an infinite boredom to waste precious time to be part of this association. Do you want prepare a study plan in which we stick exams questions and deadlines?
Let me knowRgds

January 22, 2018 at 5:08 am #431943Thank you for insight to personal experience very useful. I brought the text and exam book which is only relevant to march sitting..grr…im gonna give P6 a go and if really challenging will go back to P5, i have until end of year before loose couple P papers from the 7 year rule.
I am seriously at wits end i dont feel i have any option to change paper as i have all the theroy for P5 and the last 3 sittings i changed my exam texhnique to write more inbthe style of an advisor/consultant and i am still failing…
I received a mark between 41%-48% all sittings
Each time I come out of the exam hall I never have a strong feeling if I done good or bad although I answer most if not all the paper. I have no confidence in the examiner its like the paper is written to set us up for failure and its down to luck if u get a pass or not..supported with global pass rate of 29%
