I would resit p4 in June while your knowledge is still fresh.. Looking at past pass rates for p4, I thought March exam would be difficult after a fair December one, and it was.. So, I would expect an easier one in June. Maybe I am wrong, but I believe in this pattern)
Personally I am sure I will have to resit in June, part B was OK, but I failed the Question 1 – was expecting investment appraisal or M&A not this restructuring mess.
March 11, 2017 at 11:43 am #377795Question 1 was a disaster , i think this is the hardest exam paper i ever sat. I failed in December but i can attribute that fail to poor time management but this time it was the difficulty of the paper.
March 11, 2017 at 12:31 pm #377804I’m going to prepare for a fail and start studying P4 again for June…. I don’t want to risk forgetting everything I’ve learned.
March 11, 2017 at 3:14 pm #377822I didn’t end up sitting this exam. I did not feel prepared the night before so I did not attempt it. So glad after reading comments as it seems like it was a difficult paper.
March 11, 2017 at 7:59 pm #377848I think M & M had 7 marks
March 12, 2017 at 1:48 pm #377927Can anyone remember what question 2 (theory) was and it’s mark allocation?

-sources if finance (listing or debt, not sufficient own funds)
-current risks and controls
-behavioural aspects and impact on the company (share price after the listing)Only this I remember…

I just briefly read Q2 and thought that it is very new topic so I choose Q3. Now I realized at least I can still write theory a bit but Q3 is disaster for me 🙁
March 13, 2017 at 8:26 am #378005Very true.. Even after seeing and revising the past exam questions and the revision kit.. this exam was like totally too different from all the settings,
its like, u start doing thinking u r on right path and in the middle way u seem like no its all wrong… really a tough time.. the only number that seems easy was qn 4 and i couldnot even complete the npv table, just because of the tough time the other two questions gaveMarch 13, 2017 at 8:35 am #378007I know a feedback survey has been mentioned somewhere in this thread. I don’t seem to have had this emailed to me, is there a link to complete this – does anyone know?

This paper was way too difficult. I saw blue like a donkey through out! Better start revising all over early and prepare for next exam.

Could anyone tell me how to prepare Liabilities components on SOFP after restructuring programme please? I were just able to calculate for Assets, Sales and Operating cost because they had already % for each divisions ….
So disappointed when realise that still failling when you already reviewed all past paper exam agugugu 🙁
March 14, 2017 at 10:38 pm #378266The most difficult exam paper i have ever set in my life . No amount of revision would have helped, i think the aim of the examiner was to fail people not examining concepts.
March 15, 2017 at 7:47 am #377676Q1 started off ok with 9 marks for RTO but then the problems started. Think it’s very unfair as I can’t see any past exams with this style of question. If anyone can let me know a question that would be great.
Q2 was theory based and struggled with how to approach problems etc. I just commented on the different suggestions.
Q4 seemed like a god send compared to the other questions. I had a negative NPV and positive tax effect but the overall APV was negative due to issue costs. The issue cost on debt was around £136 m (3% of gross) and the issue cost on equity was £200m which produced a negative APV. Did anyone else do similar approach?
March 15, 2017 at 7:47 am #378017Jack check the email you use for MyACCA, it should have been emailed to you with the subject line ‘Exam feedback survey – How did you find your exam(s)?’.
Check your spam folder, today’s the last day for the survey submission.
You cannot use anyone’s link as it is exclusive to one candidate, I just opened mine again and it said your responses have already been submitted thank you… 🙁
March 15, 2017 at 3:21 pm #378357Any one else still hasn’t received the exam feedback survey? checked all my folders, still nothing….

Disaster!!!
March 21, 2017 at 12:22 pm #378844totally agree about the comments on the P4 exam paper. I also studied really hard before the exam, went throgh the Study Text, Exam Practice Kit and all the past papers. The March 2017 P4 turned out to be very different from all the previous past papers. I’ve got the feeling that we were required to write long texts/explanations/ assumptions, i.e the emphasis was put definitely not on the calculations/analysis part itself. Very weird set of questions in the paper. I’m still frustrated. I passed 8 exams from the first attempt and only 1 I had to sit twice. But P4 paper just literally made me feel low. Don’t wanna open the email/ sms with the results on April 17 🙁
