Time was ok thankfully, question 2 and 4 were a godsend! Easy marks for theory and application on the mendelow matrix and similarly for the ansoff matrix… just hoping they will outweigh my question 1 ?

Yeah same. Found Question 1 really difficult with time management. Q4 was very easy. Q2 was easy but ran out of time to answer it with the best of my ability. So hoping that it balances out.

Time management was a huge issue for me. Did the mendelows matrix and the decision tree which I felt I answered quite well. Then tried question 1 and hit such a panic!

I started with a “yes attitude” reading the requirements and once I started going through Section A and then answering the questions, I got stuck there. It was a disaster!! never read such a long case study question as this one and so vague that I found it difficult to pick suitable points from it. I read the examiners report and I was avoiding copying texts from the scenario, instead I tried to state in my own words and explain my answers, which was hard work when you’re under such pressure and stress and trying to make sure you are meeting professional writing standards.

So after about two hours of trying to fight through it, I only had an hour and 15 mins. left for the remaining questions. Luckily, I was confident with the requirements and the cases were easier to read and understand but the time I had left, meant I had to write as quickly as I could.

I was so gutted that after all the preparation and good score in my mock, I am still feeling like I have done nothing, so deflating really. I only hope that the marker is flexible enough to consider my answers and the effort of trying to analyse and not just copy the case.

Yes, question 1 was vague. POPIT and contextual features shouldn’t be together really!

I went for the decision tree as well, even though mid way i was skeptical abou the calculations as it’s been so long lol but yeah i went with option 3
did you deduct the fixed costs and spendings from the expected value in your evaluation?
i did that and both options 1 and 2 generated losses for me…

Well, I rushed answering question 4, literally picked the points from the SWOT writing in full steam like a bullet train, terrible!! Anyway, Option 3 was the choice and we had to evaluate this decision using organic growth, M&A, and strategic alliance, I explained the speed, cost, cultural conflict impact of each of this. My conclusion was starting to adopt organic growth strategy considering the resources and capabilities that the company already has, and it is less costly and is faster to do compared with the other options.

I answered questions 1 2 and 4…really easy questions, so much to write in so little time though. I reckon a pass mark of 54 will do me 🙂 ! Good luck to everyone, easy paper.

All options were positive for me though. Yes I did. Decsision tree was v easy. But due to time limitation couldn’t put neatly.

    Luckily for me. I do q3 first. However, I can’t do q1 b and c. 🙁 a little hope. Q3.option 1 and 2 have negative results. Option 3, growing 160*2 higher than 200. So profit is only 400,000 usd

I think Option 3 was 100% of capacity, 80% of capacity etc
Not like option 2 which was 10% increase on current projections

I honestly think that the P examiners need to revise the exam format into four 25 mark questions, as I don’t think reading such a massive question gives us enough time to really understand and analyse the case. Smaller cases are easier to read and then students can think more critically and produce a more sensible and profound answer.

I totally agree with you eagledave. I was very annoyed coming out of that exam. That question 1 was just far too long to read and analyse properly. I really didn’t have time to analyse or calculate the ratios properly. It was more of a test of speed reading rather than your understanding of the syllabus. We would never have to do that in real life, so what are they really testing us??? Same for all ACCA exams really. If only they give us a little more time to show your true understanding and analytical skills:((

Totally agree with you thao67. Absolutely terrible to have such a long case study for such little time. And you can’t skim read because almost every sentence is relevant somehow.

POPIT was very confusing for me also the ecommerce question – I’m hoping I got a 25 from Quest 1 Qus 2 & 4 were super fair! – Did you classify The CEO as low interest – high power? She really had low interest putting all her duties on the manager…
