I used the same model but it appeared to me to be a reconstruction. Since the company did not have to change its core processes. But it needed fast change as it had upcoming competitors

Very tough, the scenario for Q1 was not so easy to follow and for SWOT analysis, you have to read many times again the scenario in order to correctly allocate the SWOT attributes.
For Q2 and Q4, again both scenarios were very time consuming to correctly understand and lot of work to do in order to gain some points.I have failed in Dec’16 with 45pcts, but it can not compare with Mar’17 which it was a disaster for me.
for me this was much better than Dec 2016. What was needed was much clearer. December was very complicated

I’m not sure about your C Q1 was that how much the company needs to change?Me thinks they were looking for Adoption, Evolution, Reconstruction, Revolution theory,
In this case structure needed to change but ideas remain the same hence I believe evolution seemed most appropriate, also mentioned used to a bureaucrat organisation being government owned and should really go towards a more professional structure as its the senior lecturers who bring the most value.
Would be curious to know others thoughts on this?
I used the same model but it appeared to me to be a reconstruction as the core processes of the organisation did not need to change. However the change had to take place fast due to the fastly emerging competitors
March 10, 2017 at 6:22 pm #377639Thanks Tim.
Your number is supported by the other way to compute it.. Labour cost per unit/Labour cost per hour * Total Number of units… 0.15/10.50*800,000= 11,429..
I might have messed up with this straight forward question..

Was I the only …. I had no idea what to do with the figures in q1hahaha I thought so too but I knew I had to use then somewhere so I pointed out the liquidity issues and the falling ratios in roce and npm as a weakness under the swot analysis.
March 11, 2017 at 1:12 pm #377807my answer is reconstruction.because it need to change fast.
March 11, 2017 at 2:19 pm #377816Can 75% attmpted paper be expected to get 50?
March 12, 2017 at 1:51 pm #377928Q 2 was really messed up by me . Numbers are wrong as I realise it now – opportunity was added up instead of deducting and other many erros.
Hope only to get marks for advantages and disadvantages :
1. advantages – ABC is better to set up the price
2. it allows the mngt to apportionate o/h based on the relevant drivers – not sure it’s correct for ABC.
3. disadvantage- ABC may lead to wrong decision , ex. close down a division when add o/h even it’s profitable under marginal methodQ 3 – did not put the importance just said that process 1 is simple and can be automated
process 2 – complex, core business and can not be outsourced . it may not be automated as well due to each individual circumstances of each resident . Put a lot on training both operational ( manuals are primary importance) and HR (hiring, motivating, retaining) due to numerious complains. Seems was intentionally misled by the examiner as HR should not be mentioned I guess.
process 3 – not core business , but complex and to be outsourced. Laweyer are under -utilised and costly to keep on payroll.
COTS is much cheaper than bespoke due to the budget constraints. Less training needed as advantage
Disadvantage – one size does not fit all.
Risks – supplier may not be reliable financially if it’s small company
Mitigation of risks – tendering for at least 3 suppliers , well written technical specifications from the customer.
Seems not done well this time , may re-sit in future.
March 12, 2017 at 8:30 pm #377959Very lengthy paper. Impossible to finish it within 3:15 mins. It was a resit for me as I failed it in Dec. and I have a feeling that I will resit it again in June lol
March 13, 2017 at 8:50 am #378008Yea I chose reconstruction too. I guess giving good reasoning for your answer would gain the marks. In my opinion change had to be done quickly due to teachers leaving for other colleges, that’s why i chose that
