Very fair paper… I just messed up on a few areas under time pressure! That finance member question threw me… I just said about when looking at risk management and outsourcing they can calculate whether it would be beneficial to outsource or not.. and also in project management they can do ARR & IRR, that question really stumped me!

It was very hard paper. Q1 was totally different from previous papers and only 18 marks for analysis. Q1b was very difficult bcz of calculations and was lengthy and not fair to make a question worth 32 marks. Q3 was ok but nothing much to write abt through scenario. Q4 was ok. But overall very difficult to attemp in exam time.

    Q1:
    a. Portfolio Analysis – Boston Consulting Group Matrix – 18 marks
    b. Memo on Project management / Financial Appraisal – 32 marks

    Q2:
    a. Regression analysis – 15 marks
    b. Big Data – 10 marks

    Q3:
    a. Marketing Mix using emarketing – 15 marks
    b. e-procurement – 10 marks

    Q4:
    a. Cultural web – 15 marks
    b. Continuing Development / The learning organisation – 5 marks each

I like the new format. Now they don’t mash 3 topics into one question.
It was really straightforward. You just had to study.

I wrote about how a change management would probably change the project scope and constraints, i. e. Cost requirements etc and so a financial team member had to be consulted before implementing changes regarding finance allocation for the project. Not sure if correct tho.

very fair paper. So long you studied the whole syllabus.I had a feeling that they would bring project managent.PDI document missed a lot of crucial things.Project drivers were there but not risk assessment, project gateways, dissemination plan, assigning teams-benefit owners and change owners.

observable, measurable, quantifiable and finacial benefits need to be distinguised

part (a) was straight foward.the sizes of revenue determined their contribution.BCG matrix can identify that PP had relatively low market share in its market. The industry was on decline but it would appear that PP revenues declined by 50% more than the industry.Probaly due to overreliance on internal sales (80%).May it is the structure of transfer pricing system. But the fact that the society is gradually becoming paperless and MLK has ventured on an E Business project, PP might be less relevant in the future.

    Q1 a.
1st subsidiary – Dog, however of strategic importance as it supplies intragroup.
2nd subsidiary – Star – grow, finance, wait until market matures and the “milk the cow”!
3rd – Cash Cow – hold, harvest. Inflows to be used to finance star

It was a hard paper and I totally agree with you Gulshab. I hated the NPV question. It was just an evil paper I haven’t done NPV in years. Although I did like the layout of the paper with the clear lines in question 1.

in fairness, I did not get to practice as many as I would have liked – work committments!! If I have to repeat they will just have to give me time off again!! So no, I didn’t practice as much as I should have. But…… having said that, I thought it was more difficult than previous P3 papers I have read. At times, I got lost in the questions. I attempted Q1 (obviously) and Q2 and Q3.

    -relative performance to date
    -contribution to the portifolio
    -significance in future strategy

all per company would give you 6 marks per company. There was more than enough information in my opinion
