Pass first attempt – 63%. Now passed all my F papers first time using ONLY open tuition. So glad this ones out the way as I work in industry and auditing isn’t overly relevant to me, although nice to know a bit more about what they do each year to earn their money!

I failed on my first attempt, got my results today and passed.

    Tips I was given:

    1) Do pass papers… if you get some questions wrong, dont worry about it, move on to the next pass paper or practice test. There’s no point wasting time going over and over the same question because another paper will tackle the same question worded differently.

    2) Make sure you learn key words and phrases… like “Substantive”, use words like “Agree the balance against… “instead of “Check”.

    3) Be methodical in your answers, Give your answer and explain why your answer is right, and what the response should be, even if you think your answer may be wrong, or you do not even know the answer.. you should still write something. never leave a question unanswered.

    4) Book your June exam NOW! and start studying a few hours per week… give your brain time to take in the info, rather than leaving it until the last min.

    5) drink loads of water and take regular breaks.

Good luck! you can do it

Fail with 46% can anyone please give some advice as I did study quite hard for this and thought it went ok?

As you were close to the 50 mark pass boundary, I believe you knew most of the syllabus and therefore it is more your technique that may have gone wrong.

Did you talk about business risks rather than audit risks for example?
Also, I was told that as well as doing past paper practice, try to avoid using generic terms like check and instead use terms like agree/cast etc… (check could lead to 0/0.5 marks instead of 1+ mark as it is too generic.

This was very useful to me as it it pointed out the common errors students make, https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/PDF-students/2012/sa_oct08_lewin.pdf

Hope this helps, good luck on any future exams.

My strategy tends to be different to others tbh
Well to begin with I self studied for this module so I made by notes first and was finished around second week of January. I then read and re-read by notes and the technical articles for around a month till the content stuck in my head so I would say that was until the third week of February. Now, I would recommend the technical articles as they tend to summarise areas that can seem a lot more difficult otherwise and it was helpful for F6 imo.

This left me 10 days in which I did most of the MCQ in the Kaplan exam book, and 1 in 3/4 of the longer questions, at least doing 2 of each area (i.e audit risks, controls, corporate governance…etc) and read some of the examiner’s comments for the questions I Missed.
Then I did 2 exam papers I think it was. and re-read the syllabus the day before.

I guess it is risky leaving question practice till the last 10 days but I don’t like doing practice till I understand an area so that was my method. I had a very similar method for F6 and it got me 93% so I think it works for me but I will try more questions from now on to be honest.

Good luck on your future exams.

Dont worry ,I failed my 1st time too then I just revised and did as many past exams i can and tried to think like im actually auditing when reading questions
As u got so close it shows there is no problem with your knowledge but your thinking and how you present your answer answer
Dont waste time as knowledge is still fresh
    Good luck

I think that the best way to study is to 1st hear the lectures & read the notes & then work as many questions as you can

Yupp, got 61% on 1st attempt,, very happy to pass. I didnt follow text book, only some short notes by KAMRUL sir(CPA) were my resources. I didnt solve past year ques also. I practised only 30-40 ques from BPP kit. I think, to pass this paper common sense and writing skill is very necessary.
