Hi,
A question for all those candidates that sat the paper with Section C questions on the 3Es and the hotel. Did anyone else have trouble seeing the whole hotel question on their screen? I’m aware that you had to scroll up and down but I also had to scroll left and right which made analysing the graph and picking out the relevant information quite difficult. It was so time consuming!!! Not what I needed on my last question πMarch 8, 2018 at 2:18 pm #441423@tcrngdr said:

That was a trick question.First you would have to calculate the revised standard using the learning rate of 85%
The question say after three month ( the 2 batch) the the product reach a steady state.My reason was that i should find the nth batch of the remaining 14 batch (16 batch – 2 batch)
Y=400Γ 2 batch^0.234
Y=340.109 hoursTotal hours for 2 batch (340.109 Γ 2 batch) = 680. 22 hours
Y= 400 Γ 1 bacth ^0.234
=400 hoursTotal hours for 1 batch (400 * 1) = 400 hours
Therfore the nth batch is ( 680 – 4000) = 280.22 hours
Batch 3 onward would take 280.22 hours
Month 1-3 would take 680.22 hours
Month 3-6 would take 3923.08 hours ( nth batch 280.22 Γ the remaining 14 batch)
Total hours work 4603.3 hoursRevise standard is 4603.3 hours Γ $16 = $73652.80
Original standard is 400 hours Γ 16 batch Γ $16 = $102400
Planning variance is $28747.2 FRevise standard is 4603.3 hours Γ $16 = $73652.80
Actuall hours worked is 5184 hours Γ 16 =$82944
Operational variance is $9291.20 AThanks for this one
it looks a lot like what i did, and i was beginning to thing it wasn’t right….
Now there is a small light at the end of that tunnel…txMarch 8, 2018 at 2:34 pm #441428Rolling Budget was for the morning CBE session only. but I only remember 2 topics, Rolling Budget and ABC but there are normally 3 I thought.

The question say for six month sept to February that would be 16 batch.
I can be wrongsept 1 dec 4
oct 1 anuary 8
nov 2 feb 16
total 32 bachesa think the whole fuss was that they couln’t double the batches produced during the second month..and the production director was givin’ out that “that kind of things make him look like he doesn’t know what he’s doing”,
isn’t it what we were asked to comment in c)?March 8, 2018 at 2:40 pm #441430@beloslava said:

Can some please tell me what is pass rate. i searched on ACCA website and found out that for December 2017 F5 pass rate was 42* and i had 41. what does it mean? to pass the F5 or other paper must get >50%?To pass any exam you need to score 50% or more
with 49% or less you failPass rate means that only 41 people (out of every 100 sitting that exam) pass, The other 59 people (out of the same 100 sitting) fail
March 8, 2018 at 3:08 pm #441454Yes!! How terrible about not being able to see the graph all on one page!! Like itβs not time pressured enough

Did anyone have a question on tables and chairs in section B? One question was how many tables should be produced in quarter 1, limiting factor was 25m3 of oak each table used 5m3….however, 4 tables was not an option so I selected the maximum demand.yea got it aswell
I performed poorly as well.
did we have to convert meter cube for calculations ?March 8, 2018 at 4:02 pm #441465@anastassiya777 said:

As people are scaring me about the CBE version!i don’t think that the version is the biggest problem here… Just this time the questions were very tricky and unusual…. The paper is hard enough to pass when its straightforward and the unusual questions in this session made like mission impossible…
Don’t get scared of the CBE, there are many things that are much better with it, plus this is the future apparently.. sooner or later all exams will be computer based…
I sat F7 on Tuesday on CBE and found it brilliant, especially for the long q’s. The spread sheet makes thing way easier and it’s functionality helps a lot when you have to work fast. That saves a lot of time as you can copy/paste or to link the cells, and can also save you from making silly mistakes with the calculations, or if you have to change smthg, it gets recalculated everywhere…
of course, there is that other side, when you have technology, you always have the possibility of it to stop working in the middle of the exam… and then you start to waste time….March 8, 2018 at 7:44 pm #441573@tcrngdr said:

March 8, 2018 at 9:22 pm #441602Failed the paper exam in december and got 48%, absolute no chance Im getting higher the CBE was a disaster. Good that Im not alone here, thought my professional paper was easier than this dumb paper. ACCA are raking in the money with this exam, pass rate will be going down again
March 8, 2018 at 10:20 pm #441614Yes me too! I got 51% for section A C/S ratio qn.
March 8, 2018 at 10:22 pm #441616I had 60 tables for that

If i remember correctly i thought the question ask how many chair should be produced. It was only one scare resources material and unlimited labour so you are correct it is a limited factor.First you would have to rank the product based on return per scares resource. Chair was rank second, therfore table would be first.
I dont remember how many unit but i remember that only 12 meter was available for chair only and each chair use 0.2 meter
Therfore 60 chair should be produced 12Γ·0.2 = 60
I think they asked for how many tables.. not chairs

It was really hard paper. I do not even understand what is the reason behind preparing this kind of paper.
