January 18, 2021 at 2:46 am #60653361% APM first attempt within 1 and a half months! Don’t lose hope guys..
All I did was BPP study text (read the complete text once and refer along with the practice) and BPP revision kit ( attempted almost all the questions roughly 60questions)January 18, 2021 at 3:40 am #606543After countless attempts in APM, finally an affiliate now. Passed with 58% and I’m feeling over the moon now.
January 18, 2021 at 4:13 am #606552After exact three years of FIA and ACCA exams, I have officially become an ACCA Affiliate after passing APM with 63.
A tip for everyone else planning on attempting or reattempting APM, after being unsuccessful at it twice, I went through the most critical evaluation of what I lacked and had a go at it.
Improved my time management, and worked as fast as I could. Practiced all past papers till atleast 2015 and finally watched lons of videos that are available on YouTube.
All the very best everyone.
January 18, 2021 at 4:50 am #606561failed with 49% on my 1st attempt… this was supposed to be my last paper… hope i can make it next time
January 18, 2021 at 5:15 am #606567Failed 48 marks 🙁
January 18, 2021 at 6:48 am #606588Failed… can’t believe it. And knowing that if it was paper based I would have passed it!!! They cancelled my exam 4 days before the exam day and offered to do the online exam. Obviously I had no time to practice the platform at all. And by then I wasted holidays from work already…
Honestly I don’t know which planet those people came from who designed that platform…. with countless of mini windows and disallowing ALT TAB command for switching between windows. I spent half of my time trying to find the information by juggling between windows.
I guess I will go again… last paper….January 18, 2021 at 7:20 am #606602Failed for the 4th, losing faith to attempt it again, ACCA has been like a big shadow over me for God knows how long I can remember, countless hours and money wasted
January 18, 2021 at 7:47 am #606612OMG… Finally passed my last paper
I thought I literally failed.
Thank god.. Looking forward to the next adventure, maybe a new qualification.. 🙂
January 18, 2021 at 8:13 am #606631Failed, 44%. Will resit in March
January 18, 2021 at 10:14 am #606700Thank you OpenTuition for all the resources. I used your stuff only in my last attempt of APM exam preparation. Passed with 58%. This was my 3rd attempt at the paper, so to those who didn’t pass – Don’t give up. Regroup and try again.
January 18, 2021 at 10:16 am #606701Passed first time with 64% – a score that I’m very very happy with!!
Despite breaking down (car) on the way to the exam centre, starting a new job in mid November right in the middle of a £150m budget! I felt like I crammed everything into the final weeks so didn’t feel overly confident – but I felt the exam wasn’t too bad.I have 2 papers left (SBR and AAA), so fingers crossed for those.
Tips:
Obviously, I am no expert but things I found helped were…
– I did every past paper on ACCA website for APM – which I think helped exam technique and also answers. I actually did my answers as bullet points (not in the exam!!) so that I could easily revise from these – which I always find the best help. I kept the answers brief, and for questions I struggled with, I copied out the answers – again, in bullet point format, to then be able to revise this question incase it appeared in the real thing.
– I started papers around 2 weeks before. I always find if I start too early, I forget. I’ve often gone into exams thinking “oh this question is similar to a practice one I did last week” and then can remember some points.
– Any areas I struggled with I watched the lectures on opentuition to help.
– I made “revision cards” with key theories etc on – these were very useful… Ideal for handbag or having a quick look at to refresh your memory!
– Study the WHOLE syllabus. The exam this time was exceptionally varied – with JIT, Benchmarking, Kaizen Costing, 6 Sigma Approach, etc… know the theories but I wouldn’t get too obsessed with them.
– This exam, for the first time, I actually wrote down the topics in every past paper. I then highlighted any areas that haven’t been examined for a while… In this case, I highlighted benchmarking, kaizen costing, 6 sigma, corporate failure, target costing, business process re-engineering, and VBM… of which a couple did appear in the exam! This isn’t particularly accurate – and ACCA are known to not particularly have a “routine” of questions, but I found it did help me revise for areas that I haven’t practised so much in the past papers, meaning I wouldn’t panic if they did appear. As others have said, computer based exams are good for typing up answers (I’m a quick typer but a slow writer so suits me better) but the “sources/appendixes” for information are a nightmare with having to click back and forth etc… I think it would have saved time, and been easier if ACCA supplied these appendixes etc by paper so we can highlight/obtain information more easily.
Well done to all those that passed, and good luck for those taking resits – don’t lose hope 🙂
January 18, 2021 at 10:38 am #606718Me too!!!
January 18, 2021 at 10:50 am #606729It was really tricky exam, the most one.
Most of proposals here and in APM forum section are really valueble, however, here some my special tips for those who still underway:
* You have to be mentally stable – i’ve found that examiner place in each qustion at least one trap in order to disturb your confidence and force you to panic and/or stuck or waste huge amount of time. Accept this as part of game.
* For those who are not native speakers – you have to train your handwriting (in case of writing exam type). I’ve spent a lot of time learning how to write on english and how to do it speedy. It also include training of your writing arm with espander and elastic line for push/pull actions.
* To obtain confidence you have to spent for exam preparation at least 70 hours (80/20 for practice/theory share respectivly).
* I’ve discovered that BPP approach is better (then Kaplan and ATC/Backer) for understanding how to apply theory to case.
It was my 7th attempt with 60 marks, after my last attempt for 49 marks. And i agree with ACCA that my knowledge with 49 marks was not good enough. - AuthorPosts
