Failed with 47 Marks.
I am totally down mentally as i knew i have improved on the technique in answering questions despite the new exam format of three compulsory questions.
Will be grateful if anyone in the forum could help me out because it appears a mistery to me at the moment to see a pass mark on this AAA paper.
I will try again in December 2018
October 15, 2018 at 1:26 pm #478491First time pass with 81%. Thought I was going to fail so it was a very nice midnight surprise!
October 15, 2018 at 2:13 pm #478517Definitely !! Whoever wants notes or want me to phone them email me on Ann.greed@yahoo.ie. I’m based in Ireland though !!
October 15, 2018 at 2:19 pm #478519First time pass on this. Didn’t use any text books or revision kits, just dipped into OT notes/lectures, and Kashif Kamran’s revision webinars are amazing. Find these on Vimeo or Youtube. Best use of 10-12 hours ever.
Also, the key to this exam is WHY! Just keep asking yourself that word in the exam.
Simple example: Recast the totals….why?….to check the accuracy of the balance…why? as the (relevant balance in) the P&L could be under/overstated. Similary, if explaining an ethical threat, Why is it a threat, and what would the impact be. Stating the Ethical Threat, or the procedure will get you virtually zero marks in the exam, it is all about explaining the impact. Know your ethical & professional threats, and the main IAS/IFRS, and those alone will give you a really decent chance so long as you write down the WHY, and then WHY again!October 15, 2018 at 2:55 pm #478534I was so down this morning as I didn’t pass(choose not to say fail) with 30 that is the lowest I ever got in my entire life but I would rather have that than 48 right now. All the comments have made me super sure I want to try it again and hopefully second time is a charm. #
However, my current challenge is I have SBL and AFM planned for December and now I don’t know if to do all 3 or stick to the two already planned. I’ve been on this journey since June 2016 and I’ve basically written every diet (2 diets in 2017) ever since. I need my life and I need ACCA. I just need encouragement and advice right now.October 15, 2018 at 3:13 pm #478542I would say do not give up, I have not passed it either but we are so close to give up. December is another chance and attempting the full exam kit will help I believe
October 15, 2018 at 3:14 pm #478545Third time attempt and I finally passed…. I got 48, 49 and now 55. after my second attempt i paid for the acca review and it is a waste of money. Do not do it…
So i am relieved 🙂 On my second and third attempt i did self study. But the key for the successful result was the exam technique lessons from Kashif Kamran’s revision called PREPARE TO PASS. It is available on youtube. I learnt how to answer and how to earn the marks.
My best advice for those who failed do not give up. You know more than you think. Keep yourself positive 🙂 Be strict with time management and learn how to answer each question based on the exam techniques.
Ah also I found the acca articles are very helpful together with the examiner report.
October 15, 2018 at 6:09 pm #478591Passed with 83% (and APM 68%) so just 1 to go in Dec!
Well done to all and to those who didnt pass I would stress practics technique – its all I did and I’ve never done an audit in my life (and nor will I!)
October 15, 2018 at 6:26 pm #478596Passed with 60% first time… honestly thought I’d failed after that lengthy Q1.
My best advice is to never give up in the exam keep writing til they pull the pen from you \{‘v’}/
October 16, 2018 at 2:27 am #478675@Nga, thank you very for your positive feedback. In my previous exam in June 18, I had left with only 40 minutes to answer 40% of the last two questions – My performance was 49. At that time I believed that my time management was the biggest issue and practiced a lot & in this session I had left with 35 minutes to complete the last 25 Marks question. But my biggest disappointment is not my failure but the marks I have scored i.e 31 – it is dropped by 18. Thanks for informing that they have published the question paper for Sep’18 & now they have published the suggested answer also. I think this will definitely help me to identify the reasons for such a lower mark. I have not followed any face to face lectures and only followed web courses of Learn Signal. This time I will definitely do their mock exam and planning to do any other mock exams provided by other tutors also and to find out the reasons for my failure.
October 16, 2018 at 2:33 am #478676This time ACCA has published the question papers and the suggested answers. This will help the students who have filed in the exams to identify the reasons for their failure. Previously we have to go through the examiners comments without the question paper!!!!. Hope ACCA will continue this practice in the future examination sessions also.
October 16, 2018 at 11:04 am #478732Passed this exam in my 2nd attempt, really happy as I thought Qs 1 was a disaster.
My advise to students resitting the exam in December is to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE exam papers timed! you can never do enough! I went through so many refill pads just doing exam papers 4 weeks to the exam.I didn’t find it useful going through notes at that stage, if I was completely stuck then I would read through my notes quickly or refer back to the exam answers.
Be absolutely strict with yourself when doing qs, stick to having Qs 1 completed in 98 mins and qs 2 and qs 3 in 48mins each.
This is what worked for me.I failed in June (46%) because I started on the last question with 5 mins left in the exam!
I hope this helps someone 🙂 Best of luck!
October 16, 2018 at 11:20 am #47873666 %, on second attempt. First attempt was 35, my lowest mark ever. I thank the almighty God.
To those who ddnt make, do not despair neither give up. Give it your all, study like crazy.
After attempting a question try to remember all the important points by head.October 16, 2018 at 1:42 pm #478752Passed with 50% first attempt
Can’t thank Almighty enough ..
only attempted 75% of the paper due to time constraint. Its a very long paper.
But of what I’ve realised while studying is that it is extremely important to have read the entire revision kit Atleast once, and I can’t stress the importance of the technical articles on Acca website. Also, a good writing speed !!
All the best to everyone who’s reappearing and congratulations to those who psssed !!October 16, 2018 at 3:03 pm #478762@anngreed Congrats dear!!! So Happy for you!!
I am struggling with P6 and P7. I am attempting them this Dec 18. Would be great if you could kindly share your materials with me. God bless you for that. In fact, as I am reading your comments, my energy level is being boosted again. Thank you again.
Cheers. AshleyOctober 16, 2018 at 6:40 pm #478815hi Anngreed,
Can you send me your notes etc, please? I scored 48%, and I want pass December. justyna_bogd@interia.plOctober 16, 2018 at 6:42 pm #478818@anngreed said:
@jeggs and everyone else !! Finally passed audit after 4 times Also!! Do not dare give up I got stuck on 40 percent and thought I passed 3 times and failed !! Next time just print off exam papers !!! And ready solutions !!! That’s all do all question 2 then all questions 3 then all questions 4s . Etc!!! And use sticky notes to mark the page/paragraph I’m the exam solutions what you don’t get/ find difficult and then at the end you’ll only be reading the pages/paragraphs which has sticky notes !!! Also write out all the business risks on one a4 sheet of paper really small from exam papers and same wit audit risks!!! The thing I learned from the lectures was you don’ttttt need to write inherent risk / audit risk / detection risk beside each risk! Also where one question has 3 questions on it for professional issues/ ethics and something else ( I forget) you don’ttttt have to worry about after each point yu Make was that ethical / professional issue/ QC you don’t have do separate answers for these or state what point you covered again it’s mind dump and don’t worry !!THIS ONLY APPLIES TO QUESTION 1 risks and also the ethical/qc and professional ethics questions!!!! The reason I passed this time was because I concentrated more on this question ethics!! Before I was like oh I get ethics/QC/professional ussrs it’s easy but I never got it in the three exams ! Also in the free lectures he explains these 3 also !!!) he is amazing honestly !!’ These three are is so so so important!!!! Also you need to write notes from the lectures sonyou can reread again and again as if you don’t it’s a waste of time watching these lectures !!! Also You don’t get points unless you write down a safe guard for ethics !!!! You need to get a4 sheet of paper too like I told you to do with the audit risks and business risks for ethics also if you want to pass !!! Also that last exam I passed I messed up wit time management but I think the ethical questions saved me !!!! So time is number 1!!! Go into the same read the questions !!!! Not the case study !!! The questions !! And write down little things you need to remember at start of exam . do all
This for 10/15 min max max max max !! And start off with q2 or q3!!! Don’t do question 1!!!! Just don’t !!!! And I spent too much time in the last exam writing out isa at start of exam and loads of things I needed to remember on page 1 of answer booklet and I couldn’t decide what question I would do for thirty minutes of the exam !!!!!! Terrible !!!!! Again the ethics/Qc/prof issues/ questions saved me this time!! You need to look at those free lectures and listen to this advice and you will pass !!! Don’t get hung up on isa I didn’t have time to put in anymore then maybe 1 of these one time and still passed !!!! And I just said isa x communication with client …. just the basic meaning of each one !!! Again if I was doing again I would make sure to be able to audit computations as you can see from this September exam there was a lot of accounts and numbers so here I would print off exam paper and just read solution for each computation and keep doing that ! And again use sticky note to and red pen on solutions at stuff you’ll need to remember !!!! If anyone had questions or wants my notes for p2/p6/p7 let me know !!! I will help you pass all of these as I struggled so much with these 3!!! But I just kept kept kept going !!! Don’t give up you will regret it !!! So keep going il help you!!! And I can photo copy my isa and ias and all my notes for u and you’ll get it the next time !!! It’s 50 percent knowledge and 50 percent exam technique if you don’t have exam technique you’ll fail!!!! And I never had this until the last one and still messed up on time ! You will never ever ever be perfect ! Let me help you because I know how horrendous it is but at the end you’ll be relieved honestly so keep at it and take my advice and you’ll pass the next time !! Also don’t forget your professional marks !!! And bullet point space bullet point space for whole exam !!! Don’t start on q1!!! And you don’t have to waste time deciding what questions you will do just pick q2/q3 whatever one you prefer and go back to questions you don’t get !! Do not waste time trying to think of what to write just highlight and come back at the end as stuff will come flowing to you then!!! Also use materiality !!!! You get a mark every time you calc this it’s v v each!! Watch those lectures and write notes on them ! He is brilliant !!also for ias just know 2/3 main points from
Each standard again I can give you my notes!! Contact me if you want my notes and advice ??! Ann:) don’t give up!!! And if I can do it ANYONE can!!!!! I’m average average average ;)))hi Anngreed,
Can you send me your notes etc, please? I scored 48%, and I want pass December. justyna_bogd@interia.plOctober 16, 2018 at 10:32 pm #478840I wrote P6&7 in Sept and passed only P6
I found Kaplan a very good resource..However,knowledge is not enough
I went through all the highlighted questions in the revision kit noting my weak areas and revising…..bottom line you need to do loads of revision to pass P6October 17, 2018 at 12:11 pm #478911What was your approach? plz share.
you studied opentuition notes or book?October 17, 2018 at 12:14 pm #478912Failde with 46% was hurt
October 17, 2018 at 10:40 pm #479010Having showed up at the wrong venue and arriving late and only completing 75% (2 out of 3 question) of the paper, AND 5 previous attempts – I am so happy to say I pass with 53 marks, not much but ill take it.
October 18, 2018 at 9:51 am #479080Cleared AAA with the help of open tuition lectures and BPP text book and revision kit.
Open tuition has been an invaluable resource and my heartfelt thanks to all the lecturers. I have 2 more papers to go before I complete the course. Mainly because of Open Tuition and BPP, except one paper, I have passed all the others in first attempt. Again thanks to every one in open tuition. Hard work does pay off. God bless.October 20, 2018 at 6:25 pm #479330I would like to feel like you because of open tuition
