Failed with 48%.I thought that this time i could pass it and unfortunately i failed with 48%. its my 3rd attempt and still not believing than i was failed with 48%.
very unfair and very low passing rate.April 13, 2020 at 2:29 pm #567970Congratulations for those who pass. For those can’t make it, don’t give up 🙂
I get 45 at first attempt and 74 at second attempt.
Here are few things I would like to share.
If u fail at first sitting, take time to reflect what are the reasons.
During my first sitting, I can’t finish all questions because I spent a lot of time on first question, to recall the accounting principles to apply in audit risk question. For this, I conclude the reasons of my failure:
1. Poor time management
2. Not get used to the subject matter and this causes more time spent to recall the knowledgeFor my second attempt preparation, I go through all bpp revision kit questions in order to understand all the subject matters and learn how to apply it to secnario. Also, familiar myself with all the accounting standards especially those appears in revision kit and pass year questions.
There are repeated audit questions and some are quite ‘theoretical’. You can be well prepared for this kind of question. For example, safeguard or action for different threat events, matters to include in tender, feature of transnational audit, matters to consider when use of auditors expert, extent of reliance placed on the work of component auditor and internal audit.
Make your own note for these questions, remember the key words for all the answers. It helps you to save time during exam. After understand all the subject matter, practice few mock tests and pass year questions under exam time condition.
For time management, find out the way that suit you. You can get the idea from Opentuition article “How to tackle AAA exam”During the exam, I spent around 10 minutes to look through all the question requirements and write down some exam technique and key words for more “theoretical” question. It helps me to develop the points quickly and more time to think on how to apply to scenario. By doing this, it also builds up your confidence level in the begining because you know what are you going to do next.
Time management is very important during exam. Don’t try to get your point perfect. Quickly make your point and move on. Make sure you complete all and you are likely to pass. 😀
April 13, 2020 at 3:03 pm #567990Does anyone know when the new material for Kaplan and BPP will be released?
I bought the SBL kit in prep for the June paper, but it now looks as thought the AAA will be outdated by the September sitting too.
Would it be unwise to use the older material? Is it likely to have changed all that much?
Thanks.
April 13, 2020 at 3:15 pm #568000I got 68%, passed first time. So chuffed.
I agree, all down to time management and not panicking! I did all the past papers to time, and attempted every single practice exam I could get my hands on.
It is not essential, but advisable to sit SBR first so you are able to discuss the accounting standards casually but in enough technical detail.
I sat the UK Variant and was well prepared for the solvency question.
Just FYI, on F6 my original result was 62%, however 2 months later I got an email saying that it had been marked incorrectly and I’d actually scored 70%. Whilst I didn’t instigate the review of my paper, if you feel there is a chance, never say never!
Scored 83% in ATX this same sitting so I’m feeling very happy. Finally an ACCA affiliate 🙂
April 13, 2020 at 3:23 pm #568011Kieron, as there are no extreme changes in the ISA’s nor IFRS’s since the March 201 update, I personally don’t think there would be any hard in using June 2020 books for the September sitting. The only paper this wouldn’t work for is ATX.
Do not use books for AAA that are any older the one year due to the changes in 2018.
April 13, 2020 at 4:05 pm #568029Share your method of preparing as I am preparing it for first time
Is open tution notes plus past paper is sufficient ?April 13, 2020 at 5:03 pm #568050@wingman0401 said:

Very little will be out-of-date – see this post https://opentuition.com/topic/changes-from-june-2020-to-september-2020-acca-exams/ and look out for my updates (I will sticky post to the AAA forums),
April 13, 2020 at 5:32 pm #568055Failed for the 5th time. Got 46 last sitting. This time got 39. Have had one subject for two year. I don’t know where i missed it. December exam I did not attempt last question.
April 13, 2020 at 5:38 pm #568056could you please explain how you did it
April 13, 2020 at 6:21 pm #568065failed at 49.. what should i do
April 13, 2020 at 6:27 pm #568066Passed 5th time around!!!! I think the difference was doing all the past papers on the website and the BPP revision kit (which is a plethora of past papers) over and over……and over and over – you get the picture.
Also, and everyone must sound like such a broken record, but allocate yourself 1,9 minutes per mark – so Q1 is 95 minute no more. Just move on…
Good luck for all those redoing the exam, you can do it!April 13, 2020 at 6:46 pm #568078I have attempted this exam 4 times and failed … 43% 49% 48% and today 46% …. I have tried every exam technique I know ? .. Gutted

The paper seemed very easy for me to be frank. I wasted maybe 10-15 minutes on the first question and that costed me at the end. This is the first exam I struggled with time. I managed to finish SBL with 5 minutes to spare.I genuinely thought I’d clear or even if I fail it’ll be in the 45% area. To my surprise 30%. I don’t know if I could’ve done a better job than that. The worst part is I’ve to wait till September for the next attempt. More time is never good for me but I’ll try my best.
Best of luck to the re-takers and congratulations to all those who passed
Same here I genuinely thought I had done really well. I felt I understood all questions, didn’t have an issue with time management, first time I bought extra tuition on top of open tuition with Skans ecampus which gave me all the question techniques.
I honestly don’t know where I went wrong.
April 14, 2020 at 6:02 am #568139failed 6th time around with 40%. so disheartening. I thought I had got it this time around

It would really be appreciated as I need that type of score in auditApril 14, 2020 at 2:49 pm #568252Scored 61%. Just joined open tuition 2 weeks ago. Have one more paper to write. Don’t know if I should do. AFM or APM. Any advice please.

It would really be appreciated as I need that type of score in auditHi, I posted yesterday with my tips for this paper (although annoyingly it seems to have cut off the first part of my message!)
My main tips are:
– Time management – I let go of Question 1a after 55 mins as I knew continuing would prevent me from getting ‘easier’ marks elsewhere. This meant I was able to finish the paper without sacrificing too much in Q1
– Keeping everything relevant to the scenario – I did past papers but only really for the purpose of understanding if I was on the right idea track, rather than to gain knowledge for the exam. The AAA exam is super case-specific and examiners have said that one of the key reasons candidates fail is due to trying to include rote-learnt answers instead of being specific to the case in front of them. I went in pretending that I was an audit partner and only focused on the cases right in front of me.
Hope this helps!

Oh wow, looks like my comments are being edited and references to external materials are being removed :-/ slightly awkward as I believe this was key to my success, but hey ho!
April 14, 2020 at 7:24 pm #5682835 key tips for exam success
Hi. Congrats to all that have pass. For those who failed, it’s not time to give up..no matter how many time you fail what is important is how many time you stood up after you fail and get the job done.
For me I pass with 56% on first attempt. This was my final paper and now affiliate. It was a self study and took me about 2 weeks max for exams preparation. I did not attend lecture course coz it was fully book.
I attempt 2 quest. I did not have enough time for the 3rd one (included some bullets points got only 5 mins left in exams, I guess it was a poor time management and spend too much time on ques one – a quite risky exams strategy). I was a bit worried but i think that good exams techniques and level of professionalism does help in this exam.
Here are some tips:
Tips 1:The lecture from Open tuition is simply EXCELLENT very very relevant and concise. Do refer to it and understand it.
Tips 2: Attempt some 5-8 past exams (not necessarily in exams condition) but rather have an idea of the approach to the exams ques.
Tips 3: Read all relevant technical articles from ACCA.You will have greater understanding and will know exactly what examiners expect from you.
Tips 4: DO NOT loose the professional marks as these can be easily awarded.
Tips 5: Understand the syllabus clearly.
Hope these help you my friends…
April 14, 2020 at 9:09 pm #568287I am considering to do AAA or AFM as I just passed SBR and a lot of comments said AAA has a lot of overlap on SBR. Do you have any comments on this?

April 16, 2020 at 3:08 pm #568459Passed with 53% after several attempts (and only attempted 80% of paper). Proud to say that I never took any class/online tuition (although I would not recommend this at the professional level). I’m finally an affiliate thanks to opentuition and its tutors (the tutor’s forum is very helpful), and some other online sources. The key is good exam technique and practice…and more specifically for AAA, accounting issues.
Thank you OTApril 16, 2020 at 4:15 pm #568461Hello Claudia,
I found your submission very inspiring and would truly appreciate it if you could send me in private some of the links you said were very helpful but no longer available per your post. Believe it or not, I have taken this paper more than 4 times only to drop from 42 to 34 this time round. I will surely need all the help I can get though I must admit I really need to work on my speed.
Will wait on you……. obu.research@gmail.com
By the way, in your response, please kindly also tell me how you managed that score in the ATX exam. I simply cant get my head round it.
Regards
kandoh
April 16, 2020 at 8:15 pm #568475Passed with 62% at the second attempt. Failed in December 2019 with 46%.
It’s funny because I knew why I didn’t pass in December. My time management was rubbish. I attempted questions 2 and 3 first, wasting so much time on them, then rushing through question 1 without reading the case very well. My preparation in this exam involved reading through the text of an approved provider, watching revision webinars conducted by ACCA Pakistan and studying alot of the technical articles. This was over the course of about 2 months, mostly weekends.
In the second attempt, I only revised the Saturday and Sunday before the exam and just revised the technical articles and my little notes to remind myself of exam techniques of answering the questions. Then during the exams, I was very strict with my time management and ensured I attempted all questions. I was pretty sure I’d pass this time.
With 52% in ATX as well at the first attempt, I’m now an affiliate. So chuffed!!
