Passed with 51% on fourth attempt 🙂
These ACCA exams after the first module are really weird and frustrating ,you fail when you expect to pass and you pass when you expect to fail. This time i had no hopes of passing and still cannot believe how i passed.I almost missed the whole section C due to time constraint.
Thank god i will never have to study for this exam again.October 15, 2018 at 1:32 pm #478499thank you for this encouraging post.

January 15, 2018 at 12:45 pm #430013some tips to pass F6 are:-
1. Read technical articles on F6 (mine was UK version, lots of technical articles topics on ACCA website) – read them many times until you understand – they are helpful in understanding the topics & how to apply the knowledge in the exam questions. Work through each & every example in technical articles.
2. After reading the entire study text ( I used BPP study text) do all questions in both study text and practice & revision kit (BPP) at least twice over. it will help you learn speed & also get familiar with exam style questions & the answers expected, so that you get no surprises in the exam.
3. Watch Open Tuition lectures and learn from them, if you don’t grasp a topic repeat it so you get it – repeating helped me understand some topics better.
4. Areas concerning dates & tax administration, re-read in last days towards exam to refresh memory, trying to rote-learn them earlier will not really help much, as I would get frustrated when I could not recall the exact details of the tax administration part but towards exam it get easier to recall.
5. Exam technique is crucial, be strict with your time but don’t rush the MCQ’s you need to understand exact requirement before answering all questions – I actually did not finish section C left a sub-part & half a number undone! I know I did not manage my time well in the exam & learnt from that experience, I was probably saved by MCQs in section A & B which I tried to do as well as possible.
F6 syllabus is broad but you can pass it, I passed on first attempt but you have to go through the study material & practice exam questions more than twice & manage exam time.
I was not familiar with UK taxation before this F6 paper but learnt all about it & passed, you can too, just never give up – invest time, effort & exam technique in this paper & you will pass it.
Hope the tips above help you & best of luck for your next exams.

July 17, 2017 at 10:43 am #396974Tips:
1.Do not give up, start studying earlier so that your memory is revived from last paper and resit as soon as possible, if you push paper far ahead you will not benefit much from the earlier revision effort.
2.Go through study text twice – first to get concepts then second to ensure you get the syllabus knowledge base.
3. Watch & work through the Open Tuition lectures & revision lectures – very helpful.
4. Go through the BPP practice & revision book thrice, 1st to get to learn how to answer questions, 2nd to learn speed and accuracy, 3rd to make sure you can answer any question asked from whichever topic in the exam.
5. Read the technical articles twice – gives you an idea of what the examiners are thinking.
6. Develop exam technique – answer easy questions first (saves time & builds confidence), don’t get stuck on a question, skip it & return to it later, allocate exam time to marks (about 1.8 minutes per mark) so you know how much time to spend on high marks questions than get stuck on a low mark question, when you could have gathered more marks from a high mark question. It is all about collecting as many marks as possible so you get safely above the 50% pass-mark.My tips are from experience as I passed on second attempt (so I have an idea what it feels like – not to pass) but had to get over my initial disappointment and work through every topic diligently because I had allocated very little study/revision time to F5 at first not realizing it is a skills paper – so more is expected from students at skills level than the earlier papers F1-F3. It was also my first paper based exam and I had both exam technique and time management issues – run short of time in the exam. CBEs seem easier to skip questions, flag them & return to complete the skipped question. Paper-based you have to force yourself to move on fast – chances of getting stuck/discouraged were higher from my experience.
You will pass – just put in time & effort, be encouraged & never give up!
