Passed 66% second attempt, really happy.
Last exam so applied for membership. πLast time got 47% and decided to use a revision tutor (from fmelearnonline) to increase my chances.
Anyone who failed, try to do something different, I did typing practice and got the tutor to give me marked papers.
July 19, 2021 at 8:36 am #62860374%, really happy but I failed APM with only 47%
Only one exam left now, I really wanted all this to be over.
July 19, 2021 at 8:34 am #628599APM 47%, gutted. Well done to everyone who passed.
Passed SBR though so only one exam left to do.
June 10, 2021 at 7:03 pm #624524I thought it was ok, the APM exam yesterday was much more time pressured.
I had
Acquisiton, step acquisition and disposal for Q1,
the IFRS15/Lease question which I kept re-reading as the IFRS15 only made sense if the contract was for 7 years with the first 5 domestic and the last 2 bother domestic and international ,
The film production one
and the digital services one.The first question I found tough but had enough time to go back and finish the calculations at the end. Not sure if that was enough as the text was still pretty bad.
I hope I passed them both as they are my last 2, good luck everyone
June 9, 2021 at 6:36 pm #624244I had the same as some others here,
budgeting + ABB Q1
Schools performance tables Q2
pyramid was Q3Went slightly over time on Q2, length was hard for time allowed
I only had 38 mins for Q3 and it was so long and compicated so after spending 15 minutes trying to get to grips the rest was just panicking writing. Amazing how your brain seizes up trying to remember the pyramid layout when in an exam.Really difficult for time in that exam, hopefully I passed but wouldn’t be surprised to have to retake.
SBR tomorrow so back revising now.May 4, 2021 at 10:37 am #619634I haven’t sat this paper yet but I have been surprised that APM does not seem like a straight follow on from PM. In PM it was mainly concept and calculation based. This exam seems much more like SBL but related to improving performance instead of business leadership.
I feel like I have too much to do before the exams and I am sitting SBR too. These are the last 2 exams I need to pass.
April 12, 2021 at 3:32 pm #617280Well done everyone, I passed this (69%) and AFM (53%) after failing both in Dec 2020 which was a bit of a shock.
The professional exams are a step up and require that much more study and practice. Technique is suddenly really important.
March 5, 2021 at 5:50 pm #613585Wow, that was tough.
Just got completely stuck on the first question, didn’t know what they wanted us to do.Also really struggled trying to work out what they were getting at on the text questions.
It was easily the toughest exam I have taken yet. Funny as I actually did the work for this.
January 18, 2021 at 8:53 am #606651Failed with 44%, really surprised as I answered everything and thought I got a decent mark. Will take a day to absorb this before formulating a new plan.
December 15, 2020 at 2:52 pm #600069Normally they only cut off if there is something in the cell next to the text. If not then the text will show over all the cells to the right.
The only setting that I use is ‘word wrap’ so if you want to see all the text in the cell but you have entries on the cell to the right then turning on word wrap will result in the text showing on multiple lines.
if you right click on the cell and choose format cell it is normally one of the options in the tabs that come up.
I am not sure whether the exam spreadsheet has a word wrap option but it definitely will show text overlaying cells to the right as long as they are empty.
December 11, 2020 at 10:29 am #599389Thanks John, nice reply and your help is always amazing.
December 11, 2020 at 10:28 am #599388Thanks very much.
I just meant the questions I had seen so far had a lot of text and a serious time contstraint.
This meant that keeping calm was really important and picking off the parts you can do.
The revision book says don’t spend all the time on the parts you are finding difficult, spend the time on the parts you can do.
I suppose we need to get to 50 marks, we don’t need to get anything correct.
December 8, 2020 at 8:52 pm #598615I am doing AFM Friday too, I sat SBL today and I have done zero test questions (apart from the revision lecture OpenTuition did.
I did all the questions in the notes once though. What do you mean by technical articles? Hopefully I am not missing a huge part of the syllabus.
Well done on this being your last exam, hopefully I will get there too.
Judging on what I have seen so far they are going to present us with something that looks complicated but we need to stay calm.
I will practice as many questions as I can over the next 2.5 days. πDecember 8, 2020 at 8:24 pm #598600I had that problem too when I tried with my ‘Brave’ browser.
It works with Chromium and Chrome and probably most other ones.
December 8, 2020 at 8:17 pm #598596That was interesting, after I had read the exhibits I thought there was going to be a restructure and close offices but I had no question on that.
I was almost trying to cram my ideas into the questions LOLThey must use the one set of exhibits but have different questions.
Technique and discipline was important and I feel they were testing both. For a couple the questions there was so much to write you could have spent the whole 4 hours on it.
November 25, 2020 at 8:33 pm #596460I find it difficult to book the exams. You need to select the correct date you can find from the ACCA timetable and often you need to get past all the centres that done have availability until you get to ones that do by pressing the Show More button multiple times.
I have done my recent exams at the Kia Oval but they are showing as none available for APM at the moment in March (I can’t select SBL as I am doing the exam in Dec), perhaps they haven’t confirmed availability yet.
I think you should call up ACCA and check with them
October 19, 2020 at 6:58 am #590179Passed 74% thanks OpenTuition, brilliant resources.
I just used the Lectures and a revision kit.
October 19, 2020 at 6:53 am #590177I passed with 57% but this exam lived up to it’s reputation and was 10% less than I thought.
Pretty happy and can move onto the professional exams in December.
September 8, 2020 at 11:41 am #584055Just to point out the obvious in case anyone else miss-reads the original statement like I and John did (and I missed it again even when reading this thread).
The question says “cum-rights” it does NOT say “cum-div”
So the share price given is with the rights to the share issue
It doesn’t include anything to do with dividends so we assume that we can exclude dividends in the question.
Note: Read the question properly!
September 7, 2020 at 10:10 pm #583957If you are talking about the internal control one then I can’t remember whether it was on the till staff script but the question was
What are the 5 components of internal control and describe them. I hadn’t paid attention to that part of the notes so I hadn’t even heard of them πThe control environment
Risk assessment
Information system
Control activities
Monitoring controlsHopefully I didn’t need those 5 marks. Does seem to be a question you either get 0 or 5 for
September 7, 2020 at 6:15 pm #583889I think the contingent fees for the tax return were fine. It wouldn’t have been fine if it was representing the firm in a dispute like some of the practice papers but I didn’t see the problem with filling out a tax return.
September 7, 2020 at 6:12 pm #583888I found that tougher than I expected, especially the MCQ as you say.
The question regarding the 5 internal controls I was completely blank on. Couldn’t work out what they were after but I am hoping the other questions were all ok.
This exam is more worrying than most because of all the people who say “I thought I got 70% but I got 49%”
I think I got 71% and I hope I got over 65% lol
September 5, 2020 at 11:42 am #5835632, seems like ages ago that the March exams took place (I did 3 then). Good luck to everyone.
April 14, 2020 at 12:56 pm #568230Thank you OT, 72%
April 14, 2020 at 12:43 pm #568228Thanks Open Tuition – passed with 66%
