Hi, thanks for the reply.
I’m in audit so I have to do this variant.
I have the BPP book and didn’t find it great. I’m repeating and using a book I bought over a year ago though so maybe the latest edition is better. A colleague who took classes mentioned that they just received a handout covering the Irish GAAP towards the end of the course. He didn’t keep it though so I’m still on the lookout.May 31, 2015 at 10:49 pm #251151Thanks so much Mike. I’ve got through some tight ones before with the help of OT so fingers crossed!
August 16, 2014 at 7:52 pm #190565I think you could definitely do F8 just using the course notes and lectures on this site and the past exam papers. The BPP F8 book is tough going, I got about half way through it found it really boring so abandoned it. I also did F7 mainly from the notes and videos on this site. I found the videos of Mike doing past exam questions really helpful as it got me into the routine of how to approach the questions.
F7 and F8 are a good combination to do together and if you’re willing to put in the time and effort you will be able to pass them both only using this site. I’m pretty sure I have F7 and F8 revision kits lying around, they’re yours if you want them.August 15, 2014 at 6:17 pm #190438I think either will be more than adequate, I used BPP and had no issues. Don’t get too reliant on the book, try to hit the questions as soon as you can, referring to the book when you need to brush up on a topic. There are videos of Mike doing past exam questions here that are good for getting into the format of doing questions.
August 14, 2014 at 8:31 pm #190151The F6 irish variant is based on the Irish tax system, so different to the material here. A new text book would be recommended as the June and December 2014 exams are based on FA 2013, so a second hand book will be confusing as it will be based on FA 2012 at best.
I used BPP, it was fine. I got it in hodges figgis I think. Easons should be able to order it for you too. Just make sure you order the irish variant as they tried to give me the UK one.
You could get a revision pack, I got one but didn’t really use it, just printed the past papers and answers off the ACCA website.
If you’re stuck you can have my revision pack, it’s from last year, but might be of some use. - AuthorPosts
