I’m sorry if ACCA has now fixed it, obviously they monitor these forums and fixes the glitches in there system. I don’t think there is any other way to check the results before ACCA releases it officially, so you all have to wait till Monday.

However I have one advice for all – There is absolutely nothing you can do now to change it, what you get in Monday is what you deserve. I know it’s hard to accept it especially if you don’t have much confidence in passing your exam – no one has except few (I thought I would fail last time even though I got 77 in P6, my final exam) so there is no need to worry about anything now, because you just can’t change it, it has already been processed and nothing would change now no matter how much worried you are.

The best thing is to do now is to getting involved with something that you really enjoy doing and trying not to think about it. Don’t visit this page every hour, it will only make you more nervous.

Wish you all the best and good luck. I really hope you are in that 28 to 40%

Hi All Finalists waiting for the Decemeber results,
I’m an affiliate passed my final exams in September session last year. I totally understand how nervous all finalists would feel now as you have only few days left for the exam result.

It was same for me in October last year when I was waiting for my final result, I was checking this forum every hour to see what other students have been saying about famous LINK THEORY.

If you can login to e-business site and see white and gray page with the following messages you have passed your final exam/s.

“Your name will be included in the passed finalists list, when you are eligible. If you do not wish for your name to be included, please check the box below and click ‘save’.

I would like my name to be excluded from the passed finalists list.”

Don’t worry if you see students@accaglobal.com at the top of the page but further down of the page you should also see members email address.

    In addition to that sections on the left hand side should be also as follows;

    Sections
    Welcome
    General details
    Addresses
    Communications and marketing
    Practising Certificate/Insolvency Licence Renewals
    Account / Payments / Benevolent
    Contact ACCA
    Exit

If your e-business site looks how I have described above you can start celebrating now. This should be the case for all the students around the world, ACCA uploads the results on Thursday and you should all see the changes now if you have passed your final exam.

    Wish you all good luck
    XXX

    Hi Guys

I’m from UK, waiting for the result for my last paper. I have already completed PER and Ethics.

    LINK THEORY
I am able to login to the so called LINK THEORY below and I can see a White and Grey page since yesterday. Before Thursday it gave me an error message.
    https://portal.accaglobal.com/portal/page/portal/ACCA_PORTAL_PAGES/ACCA_STUDENTS#

    E-BUSINESS
Before Thursday I was able to logon to E-business site from the address below.
    https://www.acca-business.org/pls/ecommerce/elopl001.p_login
My login screen then was again White and Grey page with the following menu/sections.

    Wellcome
    Address
    Change password
    Contact ACCA.

But since Thursday afternoon I can see ACCA has changed my account with the following menu/sections on the left hand side of the webpage.

    “Welcome
    General details
    Addresses
    Communications and marketing
    Practising Certificate/Insolvency Licence Renewals
    Account / Payments / Benevolent
    Contact ACCA
    Logout”

I can also see the members@accaglobal.com on my welcome screen and further down on the welcome page a message on red “Your name will be included in the passed finalists list, when you are eligible. If you do not wish for your name to be included, please check the box below and click ‘save’.”

Hope this helps and I’m not making anyone feel more nervous.

    Thanks
    X

Congratulations those who passed. Well done you all. For those who failed, my advice is to know your accounting standards if you want to pass this exam, at least the basics of every single standard that you studied in P2, and learn to apply it.

On another topic, almost everyone here are talking about link thiory and white and gray page. Can someone explain me what those are please?

I passed in P3. Never used OpenTution but attended a very expensive BPP course though. I definitely recommend expensive BPP courses.

    Hi Opentution

I just have a query on us getting too little time in exams. Link below is ACCA Exam Review Boards minutes summary from ACCA website for June 2015 sitting.

    https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/learning-provider/resources-tuition/examination-review-board/examination-review-board-june-2015.html

From the summary report I can see that 75% members in the review board believe students get too little time for paper P3 and P4, and for all other papers its above 50%. Exam review board constantly says students get too little time in their exam, but ACCA examiners do the exactly same thing every single time over and over again. So I wonder whats the point of having a review board if examiners can’t do what they recommend?

Can opentuition please get an answer for this question from ACCA or If you are ACCA (funded by ACCA) can you please give me an answer?

    Thanks very much
    M

ACCA work closely with opentuion to provide these so-called “Exam tips” when in fact it doesn’t mean anything other than confusing students. You are a fool if you rely on them, but there is no harm looking at it and forgetting it next second.

Cover the whole syllabus and practice all the areas. DO NOT DEPEND ON THESE EXAM TIPS. THEY NEVER GUESS IT CORRECT. NOT A SINGLE TIME.

That is the reason why you have to connect lorries with trains. Problem solved!!! Fast, cheap, green and more reliable 🙂

How about they improving the transportation by train as its more ‘green’. They can connect the lorries and trains which will make the whole process more efficient. Then they wouldn’t have to pay fuel charges and road taxes….Also, they can reduce the lorry fleet over the long term. Lorries can be used for only short distance and lorries and trains for long distance- I did mention about loading and unloading can be sometimes challenging (they cover whole country)

In the airport case, their strategy was to carry cheap food products by aircraft or giving the opportunity for cargo airliners.
If they were to buy aircraft to carry groceries, that wont be a viable business. Supermarkets operate in very competitive market and always look to save a penny or steal a penny form their customers. Therefore Supermarkets won’t pay huge sums for deliveries. Supermarkets know what they need, how much they need and when they need it in advance. So not really be looking for faster options.

Its sad that no body uses that airport except few tycoons. Also, passenger airliners do use that airport.

That airport value was $7.2m (Total Assets from balance sheet) but they managed to get it for $7m. So, it wasn’t a bad deal. but running an airport will be costly because of the laws and aviation rules, experienced air traffic controllers and maintenance fees.

Looking at the ratios, we had to compare the ratios with an slimier size of that airport. one could argue that just one airport ratios is just not enough to compare (but I forgot to mention that). Overall all their ratios were poor than given ratios. Also, gearing was far too high, staggering 60%. You all know what happens when gearing is high.
In my answer I recommended to sell the airport for balance sheet value making $0.2m profit and concentrate more on their core business operation, that is finding more efficient and cheaper way for to deliver foods and drinks for supermarkets.

In part (c) they have to get competitive advantage. So I recommended few ways to cut cost and few ways to improve the benefits they provide to supermarkets, making it to fit in hybrid in strategic clock.

This is a summary of what I wrote for question 1

How can u fit Harmons matrix into the question 2 (b)? That is just not possible. Its just one call center – you either outsource it or keep in-house. therefore this is wrong

    Service contract – automate
    Refunds – outsource
    Technical support – improve

Its all going through the same call center. You just cannot outsource one function of it and keep one function in-house.
The question 2(b) asked us to analyse the situation, calculate the cost if they bring it in-house.
In my calculation it came up to $1500 per day for just staff cost. That is 10 staffs x 3 shifts x $50 per staff, assuming it runs 24 hrs.

There are other costs as well, equipment, office space and so on…

currently they spend about 600 per day for handling those queries. so obviously they have to keep the way it is now.

Its not about Harmons theory. Its just commonsense!!!

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the wonderful ideas and advises. I have done quite a number of past exam question in exam condition with giving particular attention on time. I have seen a great improvement in reading and understanding the cases and planing and writing the answers.
Question 1 reading time reduced from 20 to 10-13 minutes and optional questions reduced from 15 to 5-7 minutes. Well, all I have to say now is practice makes it perfect. Can’t wait to nail it 🙂

What is going on here? Some people receiving emails from tution providers and others having heart attacks? C’mon guys! Lets not be like this and show our professionalism to the world. ACCA would not give our results to any tution providers or any other third party without our consent. Be patient guys. All the best with the results.

You can write a small sentence above each table like this
“See Appendix (4) for the detailed calculations of the below ratios….”

To get an idea on cross-referencing have a look on the very information pack the OBU have provided. See how they have cross-referenced the tables in it.

    Cheers

If you have read the OBU information pack properly you wouldn’t have this question.
It clearly says “As from the November 2013 submission (Period 27) this word count has been increased to an allowance of
7,500 words for EVERYTHING FROM THE START OF THE TITLE PAGE, to the end of the conclusions. The 7,500 word count for the Research Report does not include appendices or lists of references.”

NO. You don’t have to include the calculations and formulas in the analysis part of your RAP. Make sure you cross reference it to the appendix. In-case your marker wants to check how you got the final figure, he can always refer to the detailed calculations in the appendix.

I hope this solves your problem.

Have a look on this below link. You can do like this if you wish.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/3kbhq0syttyl09q/Untitled.jpg

Include the details (numbers used to arrive the final figure and the formula that you used to calculated it in the appendix.
Also note that it is not a must to make graphs for all the ratios you calculate.

No. You don’t have to assess the position of your competitor any where in your RAP. Always remember that you are using your competitor just to compare your numbers – as a benchmark. This doesn’t mean that you can’t include few facts about your competitor here and there in your RAP. Of course you must conclude which company has performed better financially in all three years.
    Thanks

NO. You don’t have to reference your PowerPoint presentation. However if you include any NEW information or a chart/graph which you do not include in your RAP you have to mention the source. No need for in-text reference or reference list.

If you are 100% sure that is your knowledge then you won’t be penalized for that. Personally, I would say only 2 reference is bit less.
