Hanne thank you so much for helping me with all my doubts. I have submitted my project!

Hanne I am not saying ”Source: Appendix” and instead using ”Source: Excel” because in the OBU submission portal there is a section to upload the Excel file and a different section to upload the appendices (for example financial statements and questionnaires). So I feel that my excel is not included within the appendices and so how can I say ”Source: Appendix” when the graph is in the excel file which was not uploaded in the appendices area in the submission portal.

Hope you understood the point. Am I wrong?

    Okay hanne thank you.

Hanne I read your above reply to msg4wale.

For example you said that if some one used figures from a website and created a graph on excel then that graph was used in the report. So you can reference it by saying Source: AppendixA

But what I did is that I referenced the graphs saying Source: Excel

    Is that fine?

So in this way the marker will directly know that I have done the work in my excel file and she can then go and check there.

    Okay hanne thank you.

What about areas from Part 1 and 2 of report? Do I need to include some of those?

From part 1 I have included the following areas:
    1) Reasons for choosing this topic.
    2) Reasons for choosing this organisation and competitor

From part 2 I have included:
    1) Sources from which I obtained relevant data
    2) Limitations of information gathering

and then part 3 I will add. Still working on that

Can you please guide if I am adding any irrelevant area?

Another problem is that when I was doing the research and writing the report, at that time my mentor said ”NEVER LIMIT YOURSELF”. I know he wanted me to do the best research and write everything but now it has become a problem for me.

For part 3 the word count allowed is 4500 and mine was reaching 9500. I have managed to reduce it to 7100 words by rewriting sentences. But now I will have to start removing the important references that I added once.

I feel that for competitor also I have written more things then was required. Maybe I should remove some competitor areas.

Okay thank you so much Hanne. Can you please tell me about how I should be preparing the presentation slides?

What I should be including in the ”introduction part”? and also do I need to talk about the findings from Ratio analysis only or do I need to talk about the findings of SWOT and PESTLE as well?

    Thank you hanne for replying.

I wrote 600 words for my conclusion and my total word count for part 3 right now is 8000. I have been successful at reducing it from 9500 to 8000. Still trying further.

I think I have written a lot on the conclusion part. How many words should I aim for the conclusion?

Can anyone please tell me the characteristics of a ”good conclusion”.

I have written the conclusion but I am not satisfied with it.

Sorry mam can you please explain what does second hand referencing mean?

I have one more question please. I read an article on the website Seeking alpha and the author is named ”the outsider”. So as there is no real name for the author, what should be the in-text citation?

    Should it be:
    (outsider, 2017)

    OR
    (Seekingalpha, 2017)

    Thanks.

Okay thank you. I have another question.

So I read an article on the internet and it said that it was reported by for example, John Dave and edited by Henry mac and Sheela ben. So now in my in-text citation, should I include (Dave, 2019) or (Dave, Mac & Ben, 2019)?

I have another question regarding Part 3.

So what happened was that at an earlier point in the report, I wrote the reasons for increase in net profit and referenced it to the relevant sources.

And then later in the report, I wanted to explain the reasons for increase in earnings so I said that ” earnings increased due to good performance of financial segment and gains from derivatives as explained earlier in the report”. And I didn’t put any in-text citation for it. Is that right?

Actually I am aiming to complete part 2 that is why I want to be sure that I am including the right things.

I have a doubt. In Part 2, when I am explaining ratio analysis and then its limitations. Do I have to include the explanation and limitations of all the ratios that I have used for my evaluation and analysis part?

Okay thank you so much for replying.

    I have another confusion.

There are two sections which we have to include in Part 2:

    1) The sources of information from which you have obtained relevant data

In this one I can tell about each and every source even if I have not included it in the reference list right? for example can I even mention referencing articles from open tuition?

    2) A description of the methods used to collect information, including online access

Here I have to give an explanation for primary and secondary data right? but what if I have not used primary data. Does that mean that I only give an explanation for secondary data?

    Thanks in advance

Thank you for replying. Can you please tell me about this a bit more. Like you said that we can include limitations if there are any, in Part 3. But in Part 2 as well we have to include limitations of analysis. Why is that?

Thank you so much for replying @hanne.

It is quite shocking for me because I thought that the application of SWOT and PESTEL will go in Part 2 within the 2000 words and I will be having 4500 words for Ratio analysis.

So does it mean that now I will have to do both ratio analysis and SWOT and PESTEL analysis within 4500 words? Its going to be difficult. Please give me some tips. I have calculated so many ratios and I thought I will explain all of them. For Profitability itself I calculated 5 ratios

Please can someone clear my doubt. I don’t want to end up messing my word count.

My doubt is Where do I have to include the application of SWOT AND PESTEL performed? Should I include it in Part 2 within the 2000 word count or Part 3 within the 4500 word count?

I have a question please. When I was doing my excel calculations and creating graphs, I used adjusted figures for 2017 because in 2018, the company took up a new accounting standard and to make the 3 year figures comparable I applied that retrospectively and took the adjusted figures. Now that I am writing my part 3, In the articles which I find on the internet, they aren’t using adjusted figures so now its conflicting with my excel work and graphs.

Please help. Should I not take the adjusted figures in my excel workings for that particular year?

Thank you so much mam. I have another question. In part 3 of my report I was discussing an increase in sales and what I did was that I took the figures from a website and created a graph on excel and in excel I included a screenshot of the figures plus the link to that particular website but In my report I have not included any in-text citation for that when I say that e.g there is a % increase in sales in Russia. I hope the markers don’t tell me that I lacked referencing.

Can you please tell me that in this case giving the details of the source in excel only and not including any in-text citation in report is right or wrong? For the reasoning parts I am making sure that I give reference.

Thank you so much. I have one more question regarding referencing. First, I want to tell you that I have read all the beautiful referencing articles on Opentuition and this made my life much easier.

My question is for example, I read an article and decided to include it in my report. There is no author name but I can use website name and website name is AUTOCAR. So in my intext citation, Can I include it as (Autocar, 2017) instead of (AUTOCAR, 2017)?
