Failed with 40%. I can only put this down to having poor revision leading up to it and not being very well on the exam date! Hopefully the first and last fail!!
July 16, 2018 at 9:12 am #462979Failed with 43%, absolutely gutted!
Was my retake and got 49% first time… Really felt like this one went well, which is worrying as i clearly don’t have a grasp on some topics, but thought i did!!June 8, 2018 at 8:30 am #457722I think Section A was OK, although a lot of wordy questions with multiple responses required (which i hate!). Section B felt like it went well.
Section C i have the Expected Values question for some Popstar scenario, and the balanced Scorecard for AA Hotel. I felt they went OK, but i kept on doubting my maths on the EV question as i came out with more loss that profit!?!? who knows.
Pray for a summer miracle.January 15, 2018 at 12:35 pm #4300052nd attempt and got 49%. First time round was 48% so heading in the right direction i guess… :/
Found Section A questions really harsh though as not many were multiple choice, rather matching (with like 4-6 you have to match correctly for the 2 points!). I found the paper didnt cover the big topics at all really, barely got anything on Ratios, throughput, variances or the equations?? Maybe its just me (and being a bit of a sore loser) but thought the paper was a little off

I am sorry if I have offended anyone but if you put the work in you pass, it’s pretty black and white. To be honest i kinda agree with this. That being said there are always going to be reasons why people fail an exam. i failed my first exam for ACCA (F5) but this was down to me. I was ill with Flu the week before my exam, but mainly failed because i went in quite cocky becuase i had completed AAT lvl 2,3 and 4 without failing any. In all honesty not revising anywhere near as much as my classmates.
Now ACCA is another beast entirely, but is still just down to the person being focused and setting aside the right amount of time to complete the exam.
April 18, 2017 at 2:21 pm #382450Passed first time with 52%. Actually felt the exam went really well so was a little suprised with 52, but ill take it all day long!

March 10, 2017 at 4:55 pm #377589Thanks for the tips, very useful!
Could i ask, how long did you allow for each P paper? I still have F8 and F9 to go so it wont be till later on in the year, but im concerned with the P papers. Sounds like they are absolute monsters!
My situation at the moment is working as an accountant full time and going to college for 3 hours a week in the evening. Along with a pregnant wife due in the summer, im wondering how long i need to realistically allow for each P paper (doing 1 at a time as well, i dont think i could cope with 2!)
Many thanks,
JamesMarch 4, 2017 at 7:38 pm #375597Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Its mainly just the little workings i fail to put down, because i do it on scrap paper or on the calculator.
I don’t think im missing anything major, just calculations. The answers always have the (W1) or (Note1) and then the workings below their answer. That’s the bit i don’t put down in the actual exam
December 13, 2016 at 6:05 pm #363597Hi Soomycool,
I have the exam this thurday, and if you are doing the computer based one then its all Multiple choice. You wont need to remember cases as such, but knowing cases just helps to remember the outcome of the rules/laws etc.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
November 28, 2016 at 9:25 pm #352251Hi Cathy,
I was wondering if you could let me know what type of questions you got on section A? I’m finding the time allowed really harsh as well, and find that its taking me much longer than it should to complete 15 questions! was it a nice mix of the select a statement, workings and whats true/false?
I’m hoping its not going to be 15 workings type questions or i could be in trouble!
Sitting exam on 7th December…
Hope you got the result you wanted! 🙂

November 28, 2016 at 9:17 pm #352248Hi John,
Thanks for clearing this up.
I will of course answer every question. I was just worried with their wording that if a question was left blank, even by mistake, they would fail it
Thanks again,
James
November 8, 2016 at 8:13 pm #348125Hi John,
Thanks for the advice. I think i will watch a chapter an evening and just almost start again with this material.
I don’t want to be doing any resits, so i will say goodbye to the social life for now!
Thanks again
November 5, 2016 at 5:15 pm #347603Hi,
I have just found this great website and also have my exam in December.
I go to a local college one day a week and finding it a lot to take in. I am currently AAT qualified and ACCA seems a pretty big leap!
At college I have gone through the textbook (Kaplan) once and feel that we now have limited time to study…
Is there any particular chapters you would say are vital to have a good understating of? i wouldn’t say im struggling with anything in particular, i just only have a month to get to grips with all chapters again to be safe and pass.
Thanks
