Hey all, thanks for your posts. Has been super useful to prepare for my P1 Exam that I recently sat and thankfully passed 1st time. I will also echo the feedback about the actual paper being 70-30 split in favour of theory to calc.
July 28, 2020 at 1:49 pm #578488Hey All,
Passed E1 end of last year by using the Kaplan study text and exam toolkit. The exam toolkit was very useful. I would say however, there were some questions that came up which were not in the study text.
Passed P1 at the weekend and would highly recommend the Kaplan study text & Exam toolkit, Astranti Mock, Open Tuition chapter assessments and the CIMA practise test.
Have F1 coming up next so would like to hear thoughts on those who’ve done this…
July 28, 2020 at 1:43 pm #578487I done my P1 Exam at the weekend and thankfully passed it 1st time but it took a lot of work!
My tips:
1. Actual exam was more theoretical (you’ll notice in this & other forums its similar feedback), I’d say around 70-30 theory to calc
2. I studied with Kaplan and found the resources useful. I would recommend the Kaplan study text and exam toolkit, along with the online MyKaplan assessments
3. Practise the Open Tuition assessments for each chapter
4. Astranti Mock exam was super useful and included theoretical exam questions
5. Do the free CIMA Practise paper that you can access via CIMAPractise Practise Practise is the key with this one and don’t get disheartened if you score low. Just keep at it and if you need to delay the exam until you’re ready, then delay it!
Hope this helps 🙂

I done my P1 Exam at the weekend and thankfully passed it 1st time but it took a lot of work!
I likewise used the Kaplan study text, read mostly page to page but was still getting around the 50% mark 🙁
My tips:
1. Actual exam was more theoretical (you’ll notice in other forums its similar feedback), I’d say around 70-30 theory to calc
2. Practise all the Kaplan assessments in study text – do you have online MyKaplan? If you do then do all their Mock exams
3. Practise the Open Tuition assessments for each chapter
4. Astranti Mock exam was super useful and included theoretical exam questions
5. Do the free CIMA Practise paper that you can access via CIMAPractise Practise Practise is the key with this one and don’t get disheartened if you score low. Just keep at it and if you need to delay the exam until you’re ready, then delay it 🙂
Hope this helps 🙂
