    Hey taylorrogers,

Don’t feel discouraged. I failed my P& in December 17. Like you, I only scored 45. I spent too much time on the first question (2 hours to be exact). But sat for my resit in March 18 and I scored 56 for my 2nd attempt.

Forget BPP materials. You can self-study using the materials provided by ACCA. Keep practicing using the past exam papers. Practice doing the past papers under the constraint of time (3 hours 15 minutes). Time yourself. Be extremely disciplined about it. Trust me, it is more important to complete each and every question in the exam than to get the “right” answer for every question.

After you are done, compare your answers to the examiner’s. Don’t feel too discouraged if they are too dissimilar because the examiner’s answer is the “perfect answer”. However, by making such comparison, you can evaluate your understanding of the audit concepts.

Know your quality control issues. Make sure you have the ethical/independence issues wrapped around your fingertip. Practice areas relating to non-assurance (eg. PFI, due diligence, performance audit). Most importantly, you need to know your accounting standards (IFRS) from A-Z.

Look out for technical articles from ACCA. If there’s a new one before an exam sitting, it could be examinable on that sitting.

Remember not to give up easily. With the right attitude and preparation, you can pass the second time around.

    All the best!

I received 45 as well. It was my first attempt.

I spent 2 hours on Section A. By the time reached Section B, I panicked as time was running out and made careless mistakes.
