Passed. 50% after 5 attempt. Now an affiliate. Q1 was my helper because I did it well.To all who could not make it, don’t be discouraged and be consistent with P4 until you pass it. Practice many exam questions.
September 8, 2016 at 6:51 pm #339160Calculate Base case NPV as if the company is an all Equity Finance. In that case, you will calculate cost of equity (ungeared) – Keu which you will use as a discount factor.
To calculate the Keu, if you are using CAPM, you will ungear the Equity beta to get the Asset beta of the proxy company.
The Asset beta that you calculate will be used straight to calculate CAPM. No re-gear.
After calculating the Base case NPV, you will then calculate the finance effects – in this case , you will use risk free rate of return.
I think I am right:?

July 11, 2016 at 10:53 pm #325525Thank you so much Mr Moffat for this information. I am also waiting to see the lectures on Valuation of Business. Your site has been a blessings to many of us that can not afford the high cost of lectures.
Also, help us to look into the new areas of the syllabus that has just been added on behavioural finance.
Thank you

December 11, 2015 at 4:43 pm #291078You will divide all of them.
You buy futures and not selling futures. You will sell futures if you are borrowing or making payments.
Here, you are expecting to receive payment in Euro and the bank is buying dollar. This means the bank is buying futures.
December 11, 2015 at 2:55 pm #290943You will divide.
October 19, 2015 at 4:45 pm #277582I have attempted P4 four times now. My problem is finishing the paper within 3hours. I do not know the strategy to adopt yet. I wanted to switch over to Paper P5 but I realised that P5 also is not a walk over. Moreover, I will have to start studying P5 from beginning. What is the guarantee that I will pass it once? Whereas, P4 that I have been doing for many times now, I just need to work harder for me to pass.
Therefore, I decided to stick to P4 until I pass it.
So, if you can learn from this, work harder on your P5 that you have been doing before, look at areas that you have not been doing well, identify your strengths and weaknesses and work on them, then I think, very soon, you will qualify.
We need to start full preparation immediately. Work mostly with Past questions and examiner’s answers. solve as many questions as possible, I think that we should be fine. That is the style I want to adopt now.August 8, 2015 at 11:25 am #266232My friend, I am in the same position with you. I felt that I should try P5 too, but I reconsider it that it will be a serious task to start studying P5 from the beginning while I only need to put a little effort in P4 preparation especially solving past questions.

I got this information on the https://www.acca-business.org/pls/ecommerce/elopl001.p_login
I have not been able to access my result but I don’t know whether this means that I have qualified because, I am not expecting that I will get 50% in my last paper – P4 exam.

June 4, 2015 at 9:25 am #252950I agree with you on switching. I am already doing that. I am switching to P5. P4 is a mess. I have written it 3 times. If I continue with it, I am afraid, I will continue to fail, nothing because I don’t know the paper but, I find it difficult to do that paper in 3 hours.
I think a sensible person should see wisdom in your advice. P5 is more of written than calculations. so, for me, it should be a bit easier.
June 2, 2015 at 4:52 pm #251983Third attempt on P4. I will change to P5. This course is time pressured and the volume of calculations involved is killing. I regret doing P4 in the first instance
December 2, 2014 at 6:51 pm #216335I want to believe that the examiner seems to be happy if they are saying that is paper is tough. I beg, ACCA should bring back the former examiner. That one has human feelings that this new one. Since he assumed the post, his questions especially question one are no go area.
If truly they are training us what we will be doing in practice, I do not think that we will be facing this kind of problem where information will be made complex as this apart from the fact that we will not be under time constraint like this to solve practical issues in real life. Wicked Examiner! He must have failed many times before he qualified. So, he want to make us to suffer the same faith. Your days are numbered
December 2, 2014 at 6:26 pm #216311Key differences are:
Salam Contract
i) Not standardised
ii) Not traded on Exchange
iii) Risk of default very high
iv) It is an over-the-counter transactionJanuary 16, 2014 at 11:51 pm #154142A welcome and very good idea. Thank you ACCA
August 8, 2013 at 5:20 am #135928I passed P3 – 53% but failed P7. I got 40% in P7. Thanks for Open Tuition for the support. This is the third attempt for P7. The paper seems to be difficult to pass. After three attempts, I do not think that it worth it to be jumping from one paper to another. So, I will give it another chance in December 2013
