Great! Thanks Trephena for being helpful as always! =)
November 7, 2016 at 10:57 pm #347951Hi,
Wanted to ask if its mandatory for the answers to be between 350 to 650 words each?
Can one answer be around 320 words and still pass?
All other answers are in the word limit and total is 2000 words as required. Thanks!
November 2, 2016 at 3:13 am #347039Dear Trephena,
Thank you so much as always for your helpful explanation and swift response.
Yes, I understand, was trying to put off changing the colors but its better to spend some time correcting them now rather than risk making the marker frustrated. Thanks again and yes you can definitely move the post. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best regards.
November 1, 2016 at 6:19 am #346913Hello,
I am doing T8 and have referenced Annual statements in my analysis.
I am confused about the year to be cited.
For example, currently I am referencing as: “In 2015, revenue has increased xx% due to XXX reason (Company name, 2016)”. Now this reference is from the annual report showing the statements of 2015 but of course it was published in 2016 after the audit. So, when referencing, do I cite 2015 (the year the annual report pertains to) or 2016 (the year the report was published)? Thanks a lot!
November 1, 2016 at 5:50 am #346906Hello,
I wanted to ask about the colors of the graphs.
Can I use different colors for different graphs? I did not make the RAP childish or a riot of colors, but I did spent some time perfecting the color scheme of graphs so they look decent and good. But now have heard that its better to select one color for the main company, and another for the comparative company and use that in all the graphs of ratios. Is that mandatory or helps to pass the project?
Please advice as I still have time to change and include in RAP if needed.
Thank you!
October 21, 2016 at 12:24 am #345291Hi! Thank you so very much! Put my mind at ease. Would paste some of them as graphs. Thinking of including a note to the marker too at the end of RAP to explain this issue so he/she doesn’t think I have been doing inconsistent or shoddy work.
Yes, I have the graphs in the Excel file named Annexures. Or should it be named Appendices?
October 20, 2016 at 11:16 pm #345284Ookay I discovered all the weight is from the graphs in Part 3. Not pictures or anything else.
I copy pasted all the graphs from Excel so I think they are bringing the weight of the background data from Excel into Word.So now the question is, can I paste some or all of the graphs as pictures? Would it seem crude if I do that? Of course, I would be submitting the Excel file so the marker would know I have made them myself.
Awaiting your advice.
Thanks!
October 20, 2016 at 9:32 pm #345271I don’t even have 15 graphs. 11 graphs and 5 photos.
Okay, so that means that it should not have gotten so big.Even I am not sure how it got so huge when even my project is not complete yet. 🙁
October 20, 2016 at 9:10 pm #345268Hello,
Yes I have, only a couple or so and those are linked with analysis with referencing. :/
Its a pity I’ll have to reduce my analysis just to get it in the size limit 🙁
October 20, 2016 at 1:56 pm #345188Oh thats an issue then. What do I do to reduce the file size? I cant remove ratio graphs 🙁
October 20, 2016 at 8:36 am #345126Hi,
I tried finding this topic in the forums but could not so posting here. If it has already been discussed please guide me to that post.
It states in the OBU info pack that file size should be 10 MB. This requirement is for individual files, right? not combined?
My RAP and Excel file is already over this limit individually and I still have some work left to do. I am worried about how to reduce the file size and would submission be an issue?
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
Thanks in advance!
October 19, 2016 at 10:13 pm #345080Hello Trephena,
Yes indeed I am not a native English speaker. Thanks lot for your advice and after correcting all the graphs and charts I can confirm that they do look better and make more sense! Truly grateful for your advice.
However, I am a bit disappointed that my mentor did not point this out. I wonder if he is allowed to or not, or can only comment on regarding the direction of my project. This makes me wonder what else there could be that can reduce the quality of my project but my mentor has not pointed that out 🙁
Very grateful for OT forums and all your help!
Best regards!
October 16, 2016 at 11:04 pm #343545And I have made all graphs from right to left as that is how we used to make them for presentations at my workplace! 2013 on the extreme right and 2015 on the extreme left 🙁 :'(
Do I need to change them all from right to left? :'(
October 16, 2016 at 9:27 pm #343517Dear Trephena,
Thank you so much for your swift and detailed response. very helpful!
I have done everything for part 1 except the intros which I had left for last. I am surely getting better at cutting out tosh due to being pressed for words. Hoping it does not make the project seem superficial! Okay so I would write a few lines of company intro, nothing much detailed.
I have already done a fairly detailed quick ratio, but also explained what it means being in a service industry for the ratio trend! Thank you so much for guiding me on this. Now I would also cut down on the explanation I did for the quick ratio and it would give me more words for the other important ratios and conclusion.
I am only doing a detailed SWOT, no PESLE. My mentor was of the view that a detailed SWOT is better than 2 non-detailed business models so that is what I did.
Moreover, are 10 ratios enough to pass? Considering the analysis is well done.
Thanks a lot again!
October 16, 2016 at 6:43 am #343390Hello,
I have read from all different sources that while doing the financial analysis you need to refer to other ratios, worldwide trends and of course internal company analysis. In the business analysis you have to explain and give referenced reasons. I am applying SWOT and have discussed around 5 or 6 points for each heading. I will need to delete some points eventually to adhere to the word count. How can you all do in depth analysis in the 4500 words assigned in part 3? I feel as if they wont be adequate!
I am really short on words now and still have 5 ratios left to analyse. Also, I left the industry and company introduction for the last as I felt needed to focus more on the main project first. Now that I am squeezed for words, and do not want to lessen from my analysis points, can I omit the industry overview from the project? Would it affect my passing grade? I still have to write company introduction and including industry intro also would mean that my company introduction would get shorter in part 1. Are they both equally important? There is no mention of either of these in the BSc info pack though but I think all projects include them.
Thanks in advance.
-Confused me.
September 18, 2016 at 6:26 am #340821Hello,
I am not sure if this question has been answered before so if it has, please guide me to the link.
I am comparing Delta Airlines with United and using 10K reports. There are two types of Financial Statements in the Annual Reports of United. One type has (in millions, except share data) under the heading and the other type only has (in millions). I want to know what is the difference between these two and is the (except share data) one is acceptable for basing ratios on? I have already done half ratios and now I am thinking if it would affect my passing the RAP.
I would be really grateful for any help as I believe I still have time to correct if needed.
Also, I could not find only (in millions) type of statements for Delta. Thoroughly confused
🙁Any help or clarification would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
