In addition to Richard,
You have to get to the point quickly in APM, 1point=1 mark =2-3 sentences max per point. if a question is a 15 marker they are expecting 12-15 points. if you only have 5 good points you only get 5-7 marks which is a fail
like SBL identify the issues of the company in question and offer recommendations and solutions relative to requirements.
If you forget definitions its ok in the exam.i did and still scrapped a pass
one point = new paragraph to make it easier for examiner
remember each exam script is marked in 7-8 minutes so you don’t have to over elaborate on a point
APM is based on situation and the specific environment, use the case study to justify relative points to the industry knowledge and commercial acumen you have
for instance if a question is on retail industry- there must be a point you can make on delivery, fast fashion, trends, advertising, customer satisfaction
if a question is based on a tech company-there must be a point to make on- cloud computing, security, data warehouse, licensing, software R&D development etcApril 14, 2020 at 1:17 pm #568236Hi Paul
Sorry about the result. the tutor i used is Mustafa Muchhala in FME online he helped me pass APM at 2nd attempt
He marked my solutions and told me everything i was doing wrong
i attended i large tuition provider and the lecturer was good, but i sought more individualized tuition as i stilled failed beforethe lecturers at FME know or some use to be ex examiners of APM so they know the standard required for ACCA

passed 4th attempt, 62%. Up from 41% last time. The difference? Tuition. Learning how much to write per point (2 sentences), and how to pull numerous different albeit maybe similar or related points out of the scenario … a real skill. And that verb “evaluate” – bring in pros AND cons AND a conclusion/recommendation. Gives a framework for producing ideas and points. Also brief definitions of terms or descriptions of theory for 1-2 marks (only where the terms have not already been described in the scenario) – ONLY BRIEF! But easy 1 or 2 marks so make sure to get them..I advise anyone who failed to do tuition – I used platinum school Accountancyschool. Wherever you choose, make sure you choose a reputed and experienced tutor, who you can get answers corrected to exam standard with feedback. I self-studied almost all papers, but for APM and SBL (similar to APM) I needed tuition.
Hi Cathal I’m so happy for you. You don’t have to sit ATX. The gamble was worth it. Best of luck on your career
April 13, 2020 at 8:34 am #567784Congrats to everyone
Finally passed with 53 and now I am an affiliate. I was in tears for hours as this qualification is the hardest thing I have ever done. Best news for me during this pandemic.
For those who need to retake please try again. The one thing I changed to pass is I sought a private tutor. Search Fme online for Mustafa Muchhala. He marked a number of my scripts and offered amazing advice. Would not have passed without him .Went from 39 December to 53 now. Was scared of this paper as many people retake it so many times. But I peserverd and it worked out

Awogbod2, I remember you from the December 2019 thread. How are you faring this time? I hope you passI’m so nervous just want to pass so badly. i just have to finish my objectives and hopefully apply for membership this year. tired of studying. Sat an exam every sitting for two years straight whether pass or fail. what kept me going is a went on small vacations each time after an exam so as not to burnout. I do not also believe the exam should affect lifestyle of experiences. will let you know how i get on in APM results thread
April 9, 2020 at 9:35 am #566922Hi Kim
the fact that so many students will sit the exam in September would ACCA mark the exams harder to keep pass rates around the 30%-40% range. I would imagine most people to do better as they have more time to prepare?

Hello guys.
This page is too quite for a Thursday before results. The tension is getting the better of me now. So close yet so farto be honest the march forum and september ones are always more quiet. as most people sit exams June or december. i actually prefer if results were released on a friday midnight as you have the weekend to digest it. I always found Sunday hard as everyone in the office keeps asking how it went on Monday.
the examiner report will let me gauge how far off my points were hahaApril 6, 2020 at 4:59 pm #566676Hi guys
Please don’t wonder too much on notification or try to get result early. last december session the forum was closed due to discussion like this. this forum is monitored by ACCAApril 6, 2020 at 12:26 pm #566644Hi
I was exempt. the concepts are they same but the PM exam is more technical in nature. APM is more professional so you will asked to give solutions and recommendations as if you were a consultant
but that’s the case with all strategic professional

Hi AllFirst of all, I hope everyone is well and hope you all stay safe at home.
Now with ACCA not running a June exam session, I wanted to get some advice to plan probably for September so that I can plan probably and make the most of it.
I am meant to be doing a course during the weekend in April for FR, how can I best use this study course but still remember the syllabus in time for Sep 20? This is a live online course too.
5 months for one paper is more than enough time
I was also thinking of studying for a second exam at the same time but I am also waiting for my AA result too?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and more than happy to bounce ideas off one another?
Be positive. you can pass AA for March 🙂
In the worst case scenario it is not a bad idea to repeat AA and a new paper for September. It will be challenging but may be worth it

I advise you to keep your hopes high because you can pass SBL with common sense answers without referring to a module, but once you relate your answers to the scenario, you will make. So keep finger crossed!. I passed SBL last sitting when I left 20 marks out with a good grade.100% agreed I left out a 16 marker before in SBL and still got in the 60 range. just be hopeful
March 30, 2020 at 8:58 am #566140Wow quite a few of us here waiting for APM. Hopefully we all pass and it will definitely be the highlight of this challenging year
March 27, 2020 at 11:14 am #565986Hello
I wish you all the best for results day. I also feel like i sat the exam last year
I am an ACCA finalist as well awaiting the result for APM too. it is my second attempt. Overall the exam was quite fair. i studied so hard the difficult chapters which did not come up. the exam did not have the solution in the answer so if felt like SBL imo.So hopefully i pass. you never know with these exams. all i want is 50!!
With the ACCA cancelling June exams I would have to wait till September to repeat. It is sad as more people sit the exams in June. sometimes an exam is a difference between a raise, promotion or new job etc. what can you do? health and safety first
I did read about Naz experience with sitting that paper 11 times. i saw this after i picked APM and then i thought i picked the wrong paper!!
If I fail i do not know if i should switch papers. however i took me 3 times to pass AAA. Only passed it Dec 19. i actually gave up and others encourage me to switch paper. so i just perservered and tried again. so persistence does work
I think in my opinion it is important to attempt an exam every session now, the world is changing so much. I almost did not sit the exam in March due to time pressure. if i pass it would be so worth!
March 26, 2020 at 3:34 pm #565944Just received an email from ACCA ireland that the exam will not take place in Ireland for June 2020. so for your respective country ACCA will send an email for now i guess
March 24, 2020 at 3:40 pm #565657Hi
I would suggest you wait three weeks for the result. you might actually pass.
You have to pass SBL anyway
If you ever choose AAA please do SBR first. you need accounting standards knowledge to pass.
if you liked SBL, there is some overlap with APM- most interesting syllabus imo as its very practical.
I Didnt do the below however
AFM- do you like calculations and finance theory, investment decisions?
ATX- do you like rules and regulations, and tax planningMarch 19, 2020 at 10:03 am #565415Im currently awaiting results in April. I cannot imagine studying now and not knowing if you will sit the exam in June. the ACCA has provided support for this. The exam certainty date has always pressured me to study harder so far in my journey. Very difficult time and we just have to wait and see

Hi,The question is which one to choose? I got exepmtion from 9 exams, then passed SBL (54) in Sept19, SBR (74) in Dec’19 and hopefully AFM in March’20 so this would be my last exam.
SBL was quite OK however I was kind of surprised by low score as after the exam I was feeling more confident on my paper. SBR the other way round but went very well. I liked AFM exam but time management was really key for me (probably should have practice more questions). I have an audit background as was working in Big4 for 3 years. On the other hand it was a while ago and right now I think APM fits more my current career path and should be more fun for me. I’m just worried that SBL score wasn’t that great after all and APM may be similar hence AAA seems to be easier…
What do you recommend? Which one is easier to pass? Any thoughts?
Hi
Both papers are challenging I choose both AAA and APM as my options. For AAA to score really well you need to have the SBR Knowledge. took my three attempts to pass but that is my performance . For APM there is some cross over from SBL but APM is more focused on situation and environment. it is heavily based on performance measures and providing value adding solutions that may not be in a textbook.
Overall APM and AAA have lower pass rates usually than AFM and ATX
As AAA is based on accounting treatment and reporting standards the questions are more straightforward- black and white. when I comes to APM there is a risk in students misreading questions and not getting any marks
I just sat APM for March 2020 and the paper was OK

@ awogbod2 – I really hope you pass as well. This is my last paper also but the third time sitting it.thank you. It is my second time actually. I really hope we get a nice surprise in 6 weeks. Im fed up of these exams hahha!

Again is it possible to scrap a pass by just completing questions 1 & 2 ?If you had a really comprehensive Q1 and 2 it is possible. I heard even prizewinners get the late 30”s or 40 on Q1.
Did you put anything for Q3? as it is easier to get 8-10 marks out of 25 than an extra 8-10 in Q1
March 5, 2020 at 9:46 am #564328Overall the exam was ok and managed the finish the paper. Q1 was the most manageable. Suprised JIT came up gain. Did not like the VBM question the 15 marks was too much and didn’t know what to say.
I think he examiner has made the questions more straightforward now. Really hope i pass as it is my last one
March 4, 2020 at 5:31 pm #564204Hi Kim
Thanks for the link
Don’t know why the post was deleted though there is nothing wrong in students expressing their experience on a forum for ACCA
No point covering up for ACCA mistakes, we all make mistakes
February 9, 2020 at 4:42 pm #561193Hi
I am using the BPP Kit do the questions over and over again
If i attempt a question i go over my notes for general knowledge then try the question
each evening time I read a technical article/examiner report
January 24, 2020 at 9:24 am #559806No worries Cathal
I am kind of semi regretting i picked APM now. But will put my head down for March.
A miracle can happen and we can both pass APM in March too.June is still a long time away. i dont think the whole tax syllabus will be covered in Feb so even if you sat APM in March, you could still have April and may for tax. but i know the feeling to keep failing a paper and switching papers have worked for many
Yes they all went to Acountancy school and did it with Julie. I do know they had 3-4 mocks to do and her classes are up to 4hours. But that’s the effort she puts to ensure you pass and its probably worth it in the end. she is brilliant i heard
at this point i just want to pass a last option and i am not too bothered about the subject choice. your degree and F papers have already covered all areas in accounting if you asked me to revisit SBL i would fail as all the concepts have left my head. I am in industry and people at work still sat ATX. they just wanted to qualify
ACCA is a journey but at times it just becomes a rat race to finish
all the best, let us know what you decide .
Were almost there 🙂
January 22, 2020 at 5:16 pm #559460Hi Cathal
I did not get APM for Dec but i sat the two exams and got AAA. I am repeating APM for March too already took up tuition for Dec but i didn’t put enough time in and got 40. I say you should really go for tuition for APM as there is a certain way to answer the questions. have you tried learn signal or FME online for tutors to correct your answers thats what i am doing this time as i hate the way you don’t get feedback for ACCA
I would say if you want to do tax you would have to make up your mind soon and start the course for June I heard it is very vast but rewarding. I am one of the few at work that didn’t pick tax, but they all passed it at work first time
Are you in a rush to qualify.? if not would you give APM another go just 6 weeks more and if not happy pick up tax for December sitting
