Hi Salvatore
If you have passed the F4 paper in June 2014 sitting, then it should be considered to be a proof of English language proficieny. I recommend contacting ACCA via their online chat to double check that is the case for you. Here is the link – https://acca.whoson.com/chat/chatstart.aspx?domain=www.accaglobal.com&SID=0&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
I would also ask them about why your ACCA account shows the message regarding the F4 paper. I hope they will be more helpful this time and you get to the bottom of this all.

November 18, 2014 at 9:31 am #210905@denmaster. As per the OBU Info Pack, each of your answers to the SLS questions should range from 350-650. I recommend complying with this word count as you might be penalised for having short answers to some of the SLS questions.
The set word count is reasonable and you should be able to stay within the set word count limit.
September 19, 2014 at 11:35 am #195513@Trephena As per my answer to the student, I stated that he is NOT likely to fail, but that will all depend on the marker.
As per the OBU Project Checklist “Is your Research Report more than 7,000 words and your SLS more than 1800 words? Any submission under this word count is unlikely to pass.”
The students will just have to wait and see…hopefully the marker will be kind 🙂

September 19, 2014 at 8:42 am #195483In theory the answer is yes, they could fail you based on the word count, as the minimum word count is 7,000 words for Period 28 onwards.
I have verified your query with my OBU contact and they said that your pass or fail will depend on the marker, who may have given benefit of the doubt for your resubmission.
Fingers crossed they did.

September 18, 2014 at 7:50 pm #195436The BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting degree has a 10 year deadline starting from a student’s start date with ACCA. As this has expired in your case, then unfortunately you are no longer eligible to complete the degree.

August 27, 2014 at 9:46 pm #192581Hi @captmario Your OBU status should be mentioned somewhere on your myACCA dashboard. If you can’t locate it, you can always contact ACCA directly via email or via their chat room (https://acca.whoson.com/chat/chatstart.aspx?domain=www.accaglobal.com&SID=1) and they will confirm the status for you.

August 27, 2014 at 9:41 pm #192580@khan1200 That is fantastic news!
August 27, 2014 at 1:03 pm #192516@khan1200. In your message you copied in, it actually states that CAT is only acceptable if you completed it by June 2011. So if you are saying that you have completed it by then, then I am not sure what the issue is. Maybe contact ACCA via this chat room, maybe thirt time will be lucky 🙂 https://acca.whoson.com/chat/chatstart.aspx?domain=www.accaglobal.com&SID=1
Thank you

August 17, 2014 at 10:42 am #190701@sameed Yes, that’s correct. Students who have already passed F4 (including the June 2014 sitting) don’t need to worry about this new change.
August 16, 2014 at 12:26 pm #190521@abdullahzafar. The only scenario in which you can opt back to the degree scheme is if you haven’t sat F7 – F9 papers and you prove your English language proficiency before passing F7, F8 and F9.
Anna
August 16, 2014 at 12:08 pm #190517@kamlesh In order to remain eligible for the OBU degree, please contact ACCA directly (ideally as soon as possible) with the proof of your English language proficiency.
You must do this before sitting any of the F7-F9 papers. The chances are you have submitted such a proof when registering for the ACCA, but it is always a good idea to check this and receive a confirmation of your eligibility.
August 16, 2014 at 12:01 pm #190516@rodz. There are plenty of other opportunities for you. To find out more, check out the links below:

August 11, 2014 at 8:19 am #189325Just to let you all know, you can find the list of required qualifications that prove your English language proficiency in the FAQ section of this OBU forum 🙂
July 27, 2014 at 4:29 pm #179777When you come to submit your RAP on the OBU online platform you will need to provide the email address of your mentor. He/she will then get an email from OBU asking to confirm that they acted as your mentor.
You won’t need to inform the OBU when you are submitting your RAP either.
July 2, 2014 at 2:27 pm #178041I just sent you the article via OT message.
July 2, 2014 at 1:27 pm #178033@brashizo you are right. From now on F4 is no longer accepted as a proof of English proficiency. I wrote an article about this on my website which talks about this change and the possible alternatives to prove your English proficiency.
@trephena ACCA has confirmed to me that as F4 will be a computer based exam from December 2014, it can no longer be used to satisfy the English language requirement. From December 2014, the ACCA will look at external qualifications only. The good news is that there are many options available to you. The ACCA has put together a list of qualifications which satisfy ACCA’s English Language Requirements for Oxford Brookes degree. The list was last updated on 28th November 2013.
I hope that helps.

I am not entirely sure what the procedure would be. On the other hand I can’t see why a mentor wouldn’t sign on the project (unless he/she believes that the student has cheated).

If you have failed the Presentation Part of SLS, you will need to resubmit it.
“If a student passes the SLS section in full (Both Learning Statement and Presentation) then this does not have to be re-submitted. However if one part has been failed then only that part must be resubmitted.”
Anna
May 11, 2014 at 3:15 pm #168363The OBU has confirmed that when a student passes their SLS and the Presentation part, then they don’t need to resubmit them. Even if they change the topic and/or an organisation.
The logic is, once they prove their competencies in SLS and Presentations, there is no need to submit them again.
March 28, 2014 at 1:25 pm #163481@SalahUddin Thank you very much!!!
I don’t think there is a way to find out why we got the grades we got. The main thing is that we passed and that is a great achievement in itself 🙂
March 28, 2014 at 1:22 pm #163480@Nada000 You need to use the latest financial statements available. Therefore if the results for 2013 are not published, then go for 2010 – 2012.

March 28, 2014 at 11:57 am #163469Hi Unity
Yes you can use two organisations with different year ends. Just state that fact in the limitation part of the RR (Part 2).
Also try and use industry averages as that will give your report more to talk about and it will make more substantial.

March 28, 2014 at 11:52 am #163468Hi Natasja
When resubmitting your Topic 8, use the latest available financial statements. That means use the new data for your chosen company and keep the comparator data the same as they don’t have the new data available yet.

March 15, 2014 at 8:13 pm #162427There is also a list of OBU approved mentors. The link is: https://www.oxfordbrookesmentoring.co.uk/mentees/register
Once you register as a mentee, you will be able to see all the OBU approved mentors.
I am listed under Anna Lishman.

March 15, 2014 at 9:53 am #162397Hi
I found this link for Kaplan: https://financial.kaplan.co.uk/trainingandquals/accountancy/acca/courses/pages/oxford-brookes-degree.aspx
I am sure if you google for pass rates of other tuition providers, you will find most of them.
