I recommend watching the F6 video lectures on Open Tuition. Set yourself goals like 3 chapters a day/3 hours a day/3 revision kit questions a day. You have over a month which is plenty, but better to start now than to cram it all in last minute and you will be even more de-motivated to study. Try and get study leave off work when it’s closer to the exam date
October 24, 2012 at 5:37 pm #105991Only use the old textbook if you can find out the changes in legislation or syllabus. If it’s only a year old then usually there’s an article on the ACCA website with information of the updates.
There is no impact on the quaulification status so you can sit either paper.
October 24, 2012 at 5:33 pm #105985Practice and revision kit. Make sure you time yourself, when time is up check the answer and see what you’ve missed. If you don’t understand the answer then google it. Don’t ignore jargon you don’t understand. Learn the principles of law rather than the case names. If your mind is completely blank on a question it means you need to study that chapter again

October 24, 2012 at 5:20 pm #104926Civil Law
•Private law
•Aim is to provide compensatory remedies (no concept of punishment)
•Claimant sues (makes a claim against) the defendant
•Decisions made by the judge (liable/not liable)
•Cases cited in the form of Brown V. Brown
•Case must be proved on the “balance of probability” (Claimant must convince the court that it is more probable than not that their assertions are true)
•Both parties may chose to settle the dispute out of court if they wish
•Buying/ selling goods, starting/finishing employment contract – Governed by civil law
Criminal Law•Public law
•Aim is to punish offenders and to enforce the law, because it is the community as a whole which suffers as a result of the law being broken i.e. harmful to society
•State prosecutes the accused (wrongdoer)
•Generally the custody officer (police) takes the initial decision to prosecute the defendant, and then it is consulted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) before bringing forward sufficient evidence to provide that there’s a realistic prospect of conviction
•Regulates behaviour not approved by the state
•Decisions made by the jury (guilty/not guilty)
•Cases cited in the form of Regina V. Brown (indicates that the state takes action on the behalf of the crown)
•Receives more media coverage than civil law
•Person’s guilty of a crime may be punished by fines payable to the state, imprisonment, or a community-based punishment
•Some prosecutions are started by the director of public prosecutions
•Case must be proved “beyond reasonable doubt”
August 6, 2012 at 5:43 am #101742Hi raj123nair, just so everyone is clear. Will the session take place on Friday 10th August or Saturday 11th August?
August 10th is not a Saturday as mentioned in your post
August 3, 2012 at 6:07 pm #101740Follow the link below for F9 group study sessions for December 2012
https://opentuition.com/groups/f9-financial-management/forum/topic/f9-group-study-sessions-december-2012/
New sessions will be posted thereDecember 8, 2010 at 4:02 am #72629I recommend the BPP ipass CD. Good for revision practice as it is a simulation of the real thing.
Set yourself realistic targets. The only way to build up your confidence is to study and better prepare.
Don’t write off success because you were challenged. At first you don’t succeed, try and try again. Don’t give up too easily as persistence pays off in the end
December 8, 2010 at 3:41 am #67198No, theres no certificate after the Knowledge Model. The first certificate you receive is when you complete the first 9 F level papers.
December 8, 2010 at 3:21 am #729641) Students may only attempt a maximum of 4 papers per sitting.
2) Yes you may home study using Open Tuition materials as well as purchasing materials from Amazon. However, I believe that it is important to have updated editions of the practice and revision kit (therefore I would recommend purchasing it directly via the website of the tuition provider). Most tuition providers already have the option to purchase home study materials which includes online support from tutors. A lot of students home study using Open Tuition notes and video lectures, combined with official text books and a revision kit.
3) Only F1-F3 modules are multiple choice, which I believe does not concern you as you already said you are exempt from the first 4 papers anyway. Depending on your degree you may be exempt for the first 9 F level papers (leaving you just the P level modules) of ACCA, so I would advise you to check you have claimed all exemption rights. To obtain a pass mark you must get 50% (50 marks out of 100).
Each paper is different in terms of format. For example, F5 (Performance Management) is 50% calculations and 50% theory, whereas some papers such as F6 (Tax) will likely to have more questions of arithmetic.November 25, 2010 at 4:17 pm #69700The purpose of this forum is to ask for help on subjects that you attempted and still do not understand. Please be sensible and google the definitions. Thanks
October 28, 2010 at 10:20 pm #69869Thanks a lot for the useful information! I look forward to the next session
October 8, 2010 at 4:39 pm #69125Thank you for your response regarding the session overlap with F6(UK) and F7(INT).
Before I take this into consideration, I would like to ask if you are personally sitting both papers or is it just a concern for others?
Thanks

shadedrose said 2 weeks, 3 days ago:There is slight change. The first session, for convenience, is on Saturday, 25th September instead of on Sunday 26th.
Kindly notice.Regards 🙂
ansi said 2 weeks, 2 days ago:Shadedrose,
Your first session will take place at 7 pm uk ..and mine is at 8 pm on Saturday 25th. While the rule is that there must be at least 2 hour gap between sessions of the same module.I understand that your session will be way more popular then mine F4 Global .
but still you should have checked other session shedules.
And there is a student who is studying both of these subjects and wants to attend both sessions.
I’ll try to move my session due to it. But this message is just to ask to you to check other shedules in case if need to change your shedule.
thank you.
shadedrose said 2 weeks, 2 days ago:Ansi, I have modified the first session timing.

acltang72 said 1 week, 6 days ago:Dear F6 Students,
Please take note of the following schedule changes for the group study sessions.
Tuesdays @ 6pm UK
Wednesdays @ 6pm UK
Saturdays @ 6pm UKThis schedule is final and I apologise for any inconvenience.
Thank you!
mohammedtj said 8 hours, 33 minutes ago:Hello acltang72,
I write to strongly register my objection to the f6 session overlap. I do think that the earlier we rescheduled the time to allow for those sitting both papers the opportunity to attend both sessions the better for us all. So please do something about that.

October 1, 2010 at 11:16 pm #68905I used a revision kit from 2008 for 2010 exams and I just collected articles that pointed out the syllabus changes. I cleared that paper in first attempt, however I would not recommend using an out of date kit as it can get confusing. Try and get your hands on the latest edition
