Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with applying for mitigating circumstances due to bereavement? I have already made my submission so not looking for advice on that, but I’m curious if anyone has been in this situation and been able to pass thanks to mitigating circumstances?
I also wanted to know what the results look like if your mitigating circumstances have been taken into account? Do they show you the “before” and “after of the results, i.e. what impact the mitigating circumstances have had on your grade?
Thanks in advance.

September 7, 2021 at 3:37 pm #634747@mobrien – you will see here an illustration of advice to a student claiming mitigating circumstances. If you are first marked as a “pass” – mitigating circumstances don’t need to come into play. If your mark is a marginal fail – you may be awarded a FEW additional marks – but you’re not going to get an extra 10 marks for example – and you’re not going to know “before”/”after”.
October 20, 2021 at 10:22 pm #638652Hi all,
Our exam center had a technical issue due to which our exam started 15 minutes late with all the hassle and disruption but on docket file it is advisable to be there at least 30 minutes before the exam time for administrative checks, due to Covid the process could be longer, so first of all we spent about an hour in total waiting. In addition to this, during the exam I encountered technical issues on three occasions during the exam where the supervisor has to come and help by restarting and / or re-entering the credentials while my time was running out, which resulted in a considerable waste of time, so I made between 70% and 80% of the total 100%.
I made a request to Acca to consider our circumstances, on which they replied saying the exam review panel will consider this matter whilst marking.
The email I received says I can make an appeal emailing to the Head Examination by 17/11/2021 enclosing a fee of GBP30.But I got fail mark with just 48% which I am willing to appeal due to the circumstances.
Should I make an appeal or is it just a waste of money like administrative review.Appreciate your feedback and advise here.
Thank you,
