I will be attempting my first acca paper in June (FR). I wanted to know if the casio fx-82ex classwiz scientific calculator is allowed in the exams.
May 2, 2021 at 10:01 am #619418This is taken from ACCA’s Guide to Session CBEs:
“CALCULATOR
An on-screen calculator will be available,
and students can choose between a
standard or scientific calculator.
Students are also allowed to bring their
own calculator to the exam, provided
it does not have the facility to store or
display text.”May 2, 2021 at 10:31 am #619420I am not sure if this calculator can store or display text. I only know that it is non-programmable and has a natural textbook display.
May 2, 2021 at 11:25 am #619425If you haven’t bought this calculator you would be better buying the same texas model as in the CBE software – then you have only one model to become familiar with. If you already have the calculate presumably you can find a user guide to confirm that it cannot store or display text.
May 2, 2021 at 11:47 am #619428I already bought it and Texas is not available locally here.
When I searched online I found that a later model of this calculator (Casio fx-991ex) doesn’t have the ‘ability to store text or mathematical formulae’. So I believe this would not be able to do so either.
This means I would be able to use it in the exam, right?May 2, 2021 at 12:47 pm #619432“… provided it does not have the facility to store or display text.” Yes
