(Warranty).
Sir, just say hypothetically, as part of the sale arrangement of a washing machine, the selling entity offers a two month warranty from the date of the sale. If in month two, the customer initiates a claim. When will a provision be recognized?
Is it at the time of making the sale, or only in month two when the claim was reported?
The title should have been IAS 37 sir and not IAS 38. The question still stands.
Hi,
The company maintains a provision in its accounts based upon the level or warranty claims that have been made in the past. So it is therefore a best estimate of the expenditure.
The provision is not made on a sale-by-sale basis.
Thanks
