    Good morning Chris,

I have taken P2 exam 3times and got 31,39,43 but don’t know how else to study for this paper.

Can you please give me advise on revision, exam and how to tackle the exam for March?

    Many thanks

    Hi Dami,

It’s difficult to give you exact advice without knowing how you’ve been studying in the past but I’ll give you some ideas. The good thing is that your marks are improving.

Firstly, do you stick to the timings? If you don’t then you need to do so immediately. You cannot spend longer than 63 minutes on Q1 part (a).

Secondly, do you attempt the ethics part of Q1? There are easy marks within here and if you’re missing them out then you need to address this urgently.

How do you structure your answers to the accounting standard questions? You need to write clearly and concisely for each part, using sub-headings if possible.

How do you approach the accounting standard questions? You need to be tactical in your approach. Attempt the easier ones first, which are usually the ones worth fewer marks or the ones at the end of the question.

How do you structure Q1 part (a)? If you are doing anything more than just crunching the numbers then you are wasting time as writing/explaining anything won’t score you any marks.

With regards to your revision then you need to practise the questions to time and without using the answers. Only when your time is up should you be looking at the answers or using the notes. You need to get used to the time pressure and also not being able to get 100% of the marks in the question. You will make mistakes so it is about getting used to that and working through the whole question, knowing that you’ve made a mistake.

I hope this helps in some small way. Just let me know if you need anything else, just get practising those questions.

    Thanks
