    hello sir can u please let me know if there is a specific format which is to be followed in calculating goodwill.my sir has taught me to make a cost of investment account by entering consideration paid on cr side and net assets acquired on dr …is this format acceptable pls let me know.
    Also sir i am really blank with the full and proportionate method of goodwill and really tensed about it as i dont think im clear with it at all can u please point out questions in past papers where have they followed full and proportionate methods..thanks alot in advance

    Hi,

    The specific format of calculating goodwill is in the lecture notes. I’d never use a T-account to calculate goodwill as you’ve been instructed as it is far too confusing.

    With regards to your issues with the methods of calculating goodwill, have you watched the videos and studied the notes? I think it is covered in there. If you’re still stuck once you’ve done that then please feel free to address any confusion with me.
