I watched and fully understood the video lectures on Consolidation and did the examples in the course notes…
But I’m having a problem as I’m doing questions from the BPP course book..and there is tough one on Ping Co and Pong Co.
My problem is that there is no Parent ownership % mentioned in the question…yet magically in the answer it is revealed at 80%
How?
Hmmm! Interesting! Does the question tell you how many shares are held? Or the value of the investment in Ping’s records?
If the investment were made on date of incorporation and if there is no share premium account, the you could work out percentage from the value of the investment.
If that doesn’t solve it, I dont know what else to suggest 🙁
(I don’t have a copy of the BPP material)
