Latest News from OBU
OBU runs some workshops to help students prepare their RAPs – these are invaluable as they are usually presented by John Playle the Chief Moderator or one of the senior OBU RAP team and are at minimal cost. If you have the opportunity to attend one in your country then you are strongly urged to do so as you will be able to get accurate information relevant to your submission. Your local ACCA Office should be able to tell you when the next nearest one is planned but because of heavy staff schedules at the moment the only one currently planned is for this Summer 2015 to take place at Headington Campus, Oxford Brookes University (Note: actual date still to be confirmed but likely to be in July). Places are limited and will be reserved for those submitting in P31 ONCE the date is finalised. So all UK based students should book theirs as soon as the date is announced. (We will endeavour to find out when that is and post it on the OBU Forum)

File size limits
When preparing your work you are reminded that there are strict file size limits so please ensure that all of the files you want to upload and submit online are less than 10MB and comply with the following requirements
- The document containing the answers to the four SLS Questions should be in Word format and must be less than 250Kb and you should NOT include the presentation slides in the same file.
- Your presentation slides should be uploaded as a separate file preferably as a PowerPoint file
- The Research Report MUST be a Word document
- The Reference list should be a Word document
- Financial statements can be uploaded as pdf documents in the Appendices
- Any supporting spreadsheets should be uploaded as Excel documents in the Appendices
You cannot submit zip files
IMPORTANT: Remember that is the student’s responsibility to ensure that they comply with the above requirements as any documents that are not in the correct format can be rejected for marking. In these circumstances you will NOT be given a refund of the submission fee and your submission may still count as one of your three attempts.
Period 30 and deferred results
When the results for P29 will be released, a number of results will have been deferred. All such students will have been informed and will be requested to co-operate with the ACO review of their case as this will speed the procedure. Once the ACO have completed their inquiries then the student will be notified of the outcome.
Where the result will have been released, any appeals regarding the grade given to the RAP must be made in accordance with the university regulations which are on the OBU website.
Note: We have an article about the ACO on our home page and for further information regarding appeals please see the FAQs pages where this issue was discussed by an OBU marker (and remember that you cannot appeal against an academic judgment).
Successful students from P28 and P29 are invited to attend the formal graduation ceremony on:
UK Graduates: Thursday 25th June 2015 3.30pm & 6pm *
*Note: there are no September ceremonies being held for the OBU BSc programme this year, 25th June is therefore the only opportunity to attend in person
Invitations will be sent to qualifying students by the OBU Office and you MUST confirm your attendance by the date stated on the invitation. You are advised to travel to Headington Campus by public transport or taxi (note the details about parking which are VERY strictly enforced). There are however frequent buses including the Brookes Bus which have Headington Campus on their route so see the link to Oxford Buses (the Brookes Bus is service U1X but there are other services too – any that stop at Gipsy Lane are suitable) so you can check out the routes on the website)
Kuala Lumpur Graduation Ceremony: Saturday 22nd August 2015
Dubai Graduation Ceremony: February 2016, exact date tbc
Mentors & Mentoring Website
The revised mentoring programme and website were successfully re-launched in February 2015 (slightly later than envisaged), for this reason students will be permitted to use a non-listed mentor for the last time in P30 (i.e. the old rules will apply to the May submissions).
However from P31 all mentors will have had to have successfully completed the online mentoring course AND still be a member of ACCA with a current up to date subscription. Checks will be made on mentors to ensure compliance with OBU rules.
All students are recommended to register on the mentoring website as this will enable them to access resources placed there by OBU (articles, advice and information relevant to help them with the RAP)
