    Hi Mike,
If the question asks for 4 risk of MM and we write down 6 so will we get marks for the 6 or the examiner will select any 4 or the 4 best answered.
My question is obviously we cant get more than the max marks for a question in this case lets suppose 8.
But is it better to write 6 okay risks/points or try to write 4 solid well explained risks/points.
    Regards,
    Furqan

If the question specifies 4 risks, then you’re not going to score 6 where you write 6

As you correctly say, you can’t score more marks than there are available

In any exam situation, where a question asks for a specific number of points / risks / matters / ??? then that’s what you should give in your answer.

However!!! Again as you have implied, some points may be better / stronger / more relevant than others and your 4 points may include one with which the examiner disagrees

So you write 5 points. Ah, but then it’s POSSIBLE that the marker will only mark the first 4. I didn’t when I was a marker for ACCA – I marked the entire answer and, if the fourth valid point was the last of 6 points in the answer, that answer scored full marks – I didn’t stop after the first 4 points

But that’s not to say that modern markers would apply the same attitude

So why not structure your answer with numbered points 1, 2, 3, 3 and 4?

Or combine 2 separate risks into one paragraph

    Or even have a paragraph that is openly sub-divided 1, 2, 3a, 3b and 4

But beware! Time pressure in P7 is IMMENSE so there’s not a lot of time available for the luxury of demonstrating the full extent of your knowledge

OK – I hope that has helped

Yes Mike thanks youre a big help as usual.

I have started practising past exam papers kindly advise me how to practise for the paper using past papers and what my exam approach is.

Also whenever I get time at work i try to squeeze in some study but there is lots of distractions, noise, colleagues coming over.Any particular thing i can focus on in that less quality study time in your experience.

    Best Regards,
    Furqan

Best preparation? Just read, read and repeatedly read the questions and answers from past exams – ideally from the revision kit / exam kit from a reputable publisher

Then post again 2 weeks before the exam for the next and final piece of advice

It was, but the same advice applies to P1 studies too. Just read

I can’t speak for P4 – you’ll need to communicate with John Moffat
