    Hello John,

Hope you are doing well. I just want to know if it will be okay if i write the written question leaving a line space as my hand writting is terrible i try to write neat though. but if i write with no line space its very hard to understand will it be okay in exam?

and also is it good to use lines for npv questions?

    Thanks.

Certainly it will be OK to leave line spaces in the exam – it is a good idea.

I am not sure what you mean about lines for NPV questions. The best way to set them out is the way that I do in the lectures.

I mean using a ruler and draw columns to avoid any confusion?

You can use a ruler but it does waste time – however little!

Best is simply to try and be neat enough for the marker to be able to read it 🙂

    Hello John.

The exam wasnt easy and it wasnt straight forward. But i managed to do all that i knew. If I havent studied that hard and if u werent there i might have not done that much also. I dont know if i will pass or fail but chances are more of i pass 🙂 i am only tensed because of mcqs because in section b i think i did pass. One thing about this exam was that there were no M&M Theories asked No business valuations no ratios and no CAPM. the areas which i practiced so well. But anyways i did enough i think and i cant say anything sure abt the result but i still would like to thank you and teach me this much there are no words to thank u sir i really mean it.

I love this subject but at times its hard to understand:P I plan to do it future and i think f9 is basics of it?

I have to do f5 in june and fourtunately u are teaching f5 also and there are lectures availabe:) How is the difficulty level in both these subjects f5 and f9?

Thank you for your comments, and I do hope that you were successful.

The difficulty level of F5 and F9 is similar – most people tend to find F5 a little easier 🙂

You are seriously a gem sir 🙂 May Your Life Be Always be blesses with happiness. Amen

To be honest i am dreading f5 a bit because what i have heard from people they say its one of the most tricky exam and very few pass at first attempt.

The thing about f9 is that its so interesting i really enjoyed listening your lectures even when u talk and u say in between lectures that it becomes boring when i talk lol but trust me i can hear u for hours and hours its your talk part that i enojoyed most 🙂 and the way is u talk is just amazing making this simple and clear 🙂

I want to study this subject more and i really dont know if these were the basics or what difficlulty level lies ahead 😛 if i want to study more of this subject in P4 or other finance qualifciations.

The thing is what i have learned from u is solid strong that i know.

Sir i am extremly devastated right now i failed F9 with just one mark 🙁 i got 49 i really dont know what to do. i used an extra sheet for the exam and i just have this feeling that maybe my extra sheet was misplaced and it wasnt checked. can that be the reason? should i get admin review? because i cant believe its 49 i was expecting better and i dint see the exam invigilator attaching the extra sheet so i just have this feeling may be my one whole question wasnt marked and i got 49 🙁 i am from a very middle class family and i am fighting hard to give exams i dont know why i failed 🙁 altough it could be because of mcqs but still 🙁

I am sorry that you failed – especially when it was by just one mark.

I do not think there is much point in asking for an administrative review because all they will do is check that the marks were recorded properly. I doubt that they will have lost your extra sheet, but even if they have there is not much you can do now because you have no way of proving there was an extra sheet.

Best is to just put it behind you and start studying for June. Since you only failed by 1 mark, you will surely pass it in June.

Sir the only reason i am tempted for a review is because i did a whole question on an extra sheet. and if the review tells us and gives us the feed back about every question as pass or fail or unattempted it will make some sense. Do they give some status of Not attempted for the questions not being attempted? Because this will clealry tell me that question on extra sheet was not marked. I hope you get what i am trying to say. I know this question is out of your scope but have u seen anything like that in your career on review of questions left un attempted clearly mentioned as not attempted.

The Second thing i want to ask i have been told by a friend that if u failed on 49 that means there was a fundamental error u made in exam. It means that you may have prbly scored more than 50 but examier wants to tell u that you are making an error in key concept, You misinterpreted a key concept which is vital. Examiner thinks that it will be inappropriate to pass you despite your marks as you have a major misconception.

The reason i am asking you this question is because you are my only mentor and teacher on this subject. And i leaned this thing from you to get easy 50 first it really doesnt matter which 50 it is. and i did make some mistakes in theory questions prbly but i answered everything even things i werent sure about and it could be i did some bluff or terrible mistakes while writing Can examiner get mad about it? Please let me know if that can be the case so i can review myself with you for my next attempt.

And Thanks for giving this motivating words to keep that behind. i know that is best rightnow but i am so demotivated i hope i get recoverd from it soon. I really studied hard for this attempt i did follow everything on Opentution and i was so confident with every question on bpp revision kit. I did only this paper in march and i still dint pass 🙁 now i am giving f5 too. i really am not getting the confidence 🙁

Thanks for your help Sir May God bless you for helping students like us for free who cant really afford expensive tutions.

I understand what you are saying, but even if it turns out that a sheet was not marked (which I don’t think likely) then what will you do then? There is no way that you will be able to prove that you handed in an extra sheet. I assume that you ticked the boxes for the questions attempted, and so the ACCA will have realised if there was a question missing.

What your friend has told you about ‘key concept’ is simply not true. Clearly anyone getting around 50 will have likely have made lots of mistakes and may well have missed a key concept. However, the examiner will remark the scripts and always wants to up the mark to a pass if possible – not to reduce it to a fail.

What i am asking is that a review wont tell anything about questions attempted or not? i know i cant do anything about proving it.

Sir, About answering the quesitons. It really wont make any difference at all even if answer a question from a key area is not well attempted or may be terribly attempted?

For example in theory questions there comes a thing from a very key area and i answer it bad and may be i write stories just to make an attempt. and i answer other areas well which might be not very standard or less common in exams or not that imp in syllabus. All i am asking is that examiner wont judge us on that? and just fail us because of it?

If i am making 50 i will get 50 no matter what? This question is important for future exams because i am following a strategy to answer everything. Things which i am not even sure of at all. Because there is always a chance. Writing something is better thn writing nothing in exam in my view. Provided the examiner is not judging us on that to fail.

The exam is not marked on ‘key areas’!

If you look at the examiners answers to exams on the ACCA website then at the end you will see the marking guide that the markers have to follow.

You should aim to do something for every part of every question, and you are correct – even if you are not sure of something you should still write something. If what you write is reasonable then you will get the marks.

Sir I am planning to give F5 with F9 this time. I saw your comment somewhere recommending that its not good to give F5 with F9 it gets confusing? Is it really not recommended? I have good knowledge in F9 i have studied this exam a lot. May be if the Exam was a bit more standard i would have got much more than just maginal marks. But i am getting confused now to do F5 with it or not? Because of your recommendation of getting confused :S

There is no problem doing F5 and F9 together, provided that you do appreciate that they are completely different and do not let yourself get confused.

F5 focuses primarily on short-term decision making in order to make the business more profitable. F9 focuses on longer-term financing of the business and the management of risk.

The danger for many people is that they see the word ‘management’ in the title of both exams and assume therefore that they are about the same thing 🙂
Since you have studied F9 a lot already then it should not be a problem for you.
