Hi Mike,
as the exam is under tight time contraints is it acceptable to write some shorthand to save time e.g for therefore, or abbreviations of dividends (DIVI’S), shareholders (S/H’s) etc.
thank you.
Depends on the question. If it’s part a) of question 1, then I would say “For sure” but if you’re writing a report, then no.
The “Various IAS” type question – I think I would err on the cautious side and write the word in full with the abbreviation in brackets after it and then use the abbreviation from then on eg dividends ( divs )
Thanks Mike but just to clarify can I write FV of NCA at acq’n when calculating the goodwill?
Thanks again
I cannot for the life of me think why you wouldn’t ….. except I would write FV of SNA @ DOA
Until I read something from Graham Holt or from someone on the P2 marking team saying differently, I will continue to recommend the liberal use of abbreviations
OK?
