Hi, if anyone can shed some light on this issue. In Pakistan audit firms pay lower than national minimum wage remuneration to their employees. Why is this so? I have done a fair bit of research and found that for instance, in USA even small firms pay around $40k per year to their newly recruited CPA’s, which is a lot more than their average state minimum wage. Same goes for UK and other countries. So why do firms here pay a stipend that is even less than their minimum wage and at the same time the worker gets a copious amount of work done for their employer?

Even if we just consider “stipend”, I’ve found that in UK, for example, the medical and other interns are at least paid the national minimum wage which is around 14000 pounds.
