Hi ,
Hope you are well,
I just would like to know whose responsibility is it to ensure directors have an induction before joining the board.
I know this is one of the codes of corporate governance – and directors are responsible for good corporate goveranance.
So does this mean the director will be responsible for their induction before joining the board?
Thank You
Remember that the Code applies to listed companies in the UK and is best practice for unlisted companies and companies elsewhere. So when a company is big enough to have formal corporate governance processes in place there will be a board of directors lead by a chairman. The chairman, who is responsible for leadership, will be responsible for ensuring that all directors receive induction on joining the board (and ensuring that the skills and knowledge of all members of the board are regularly updated and refreshed).
(Induction will start when they take up a board position – not before.)
