Which study text?

Hello,

I’m going to start ACCA part 1 in January, and I’m new to the accounting qualification. Which study text is the best for me (one that will ensure a solid concept building and will build a strong foundation for later papers of ACCA). I was thinking of GTG (gold partner 2012) but when I see the samples, I feel the GTG study text doesn’t give too many details and has the basics only. Is GTG a good study text? Which study text should I go for?

Also, there is this on-line ACCA bookstore – http://www.tonysurridge.co.uk. Are practice kits from Tony Surridge top class? They are cheap but is Tony surridge a good way of preparing for the exams?
