Hi P5 tutor,
This is my third attempts for paper P5.
I had finished all P5 notes, past years questions and articles but once in the exam hall, my mind become blank.
I forgot everything that I studied.
Any suggestion if such thing happen?I also find it difficult to understand the question requirement of examiner. It is not straightforward compare to previous examiner. Any techniques to understand his requirements better?
May 25, 2013 at 3:35 pm #127151Blank mind? Usually I recommend starting with the large Part A question and to use your reading time for that. However, i your mind goes blank (presumably a symptom of nervousness) pick the easiest part of any question and start with that. Make sure you label it and you will have to do all of hat question.
Question requirements? Very difficult to advise because of variation here. The best I can do is to remind you that the paper is called ‘Advanced Performance Management’ and that questions are often to do with what to measure, how to measure and using the results to improve performance.
May 25, 2013 at 5:13 pm #127162I am easily nervous and panick and this had affect my performance during the exam.
Do you mean that I should use the 15 minutes reading time for part A question only?
It is not advisable to use reading time to choose which questions to answer in part B?May 26, 2013 at 6:47 am #127197I don’t know what you tried before.
I tell my students to use the 15 minutes reading to concentrate on Q1 so that they really get to know that question. However, some prefer to attack a simpler question first. I don’t think it is good use of the 15 minutes to read all of the question paper as you won’t recall anything about any of them. Concentrate your reading efforts.
