I was just wondering what people’s lives are like while preparing for exams.

How much time do you devote to studying?

Do you have a full time job?

Do you have no money issues?

    full time job
full time mom to a toddler
broke live from paycheck to cc. to paycheck

How much time do you devote to studying?
two hr commute to work read articles/rev kit/ pass papers in that time
Lunch time if i get chance
Listen to OT lectures while i work when possible
Practice any time i get a chance.
I self study and pay for my own exams so I have to take the initiative and do all i can to pass and meet my goals

the key is to not take on more than you can manage at any given time, know your capabilities.
i sat three exam once and pass all three but i would never do it again too much stress. two exam per sitting one theory and computational.
My goal was to sit my last exam dec 2015 but that’s not going to happen, i couldn’t chance doing P2 with anything else since it seems to be a killer and i had no intention of doing a resit june.
sitting P3 only June 2015 couldn’t afford subscription fee plus two exams.
Its all about breaking it down into manageable bits.
how can i manage a business if i cant manage my life?

Notice that i didn’t mention evenings and weekends? that’s family time and housework LOL.

The only weekends i study is the weekend before an exam. usually i’m too tired or too busy for anything resembling study at home. the most i may do is listen to the lectures while i do house work instead of music.

@hanibhai thank you. a lot of the positive posts on here inspire me when i thought that i couldn’t be bothered with everything so i’m glad that i’m doing the same for others.

    @MrMorpheus
    thank you.

I don’t know your ACCA journey but i know that when i went in confident that that i had F4 and F5 down for Dec 2012 and came out with 48 and 44 i didnt like it all. so i went back june and redid those plus F9 and got all 3. doing those i learnt something very important; never think you have an exam in the bag when you think you have it practice some more F8 re-enforce that (since i failed with 48) and do no more than you can manage each sitting.

I just hope that my methods work for me for the next four exams.

I’ve no idea how you do it Latoyah with your busy schedule. P2 is the first exam I failed, which I took in December. I was completely unprepared though, but thought I’d take a punt anyway. My excuse was having to deal with being sole executor for my late mum’s estate (which I found quite time consuming), and not being able to study during my three week holiday afterwards. But after reading about your schedule I’ve got a much easier time!

@neilsolaris I have no idea how i did it before. each sitting it gets harder to keep focus. The thing that keeps me going is to the count down to the number of papers left and others around me who have gone through it and are affiliates now.
When they talk about taking papers three and four times before passing it helps to keep me focus and not underestimate any paper.
the forums help too, to know that i’m not the only one going having to juggle everything while studying.
