Hi
I have just about to finish my AAT, which I took in order to get exempt of F1, F2 and F3.
I have studied for AAT myself, with no college or tutor, and completed both levels 3 and 4 within 8 month, which is quite fast.
I have now decided to sit 3 ACCA’s by December, either by taking 1 on June and 2 on December, or taking three on December, which seems a little tough even for my brilliant self study abilities.
Could you, dear forum members, help me please to structure my plan for the next exams?
If I choose to take 1 on Jun and 2 on Dec, where should I start?
What I am looking for is one very easy one (relatively easy, of course) for June to start with (I want a easy one cos I will be short on time as I will be done with AAT by the end of April), and then one medium and one complicated to study during the summer and sit in December.I am much better at numbers and calculations, than at long bits of language, so I am looking for some easy numbery unit as a start.
THANKS a lot!
February 18, 2013 at 2:49 pm #118145F8 is wordy but easiest of all F papers I would do this first.
F5 is the easiest number one
F6 & F9 are harder number ones
F4 is boring wordy one but have to learn alot
F7 is trickiestThis is just my opinion.
February 18, 2013 at 4:24 pm #118160I d not say F5 is the easiest number one, its actually quite tricky
and I don’t think F7 is tricky at all, there is alot to learn in F7 but in my opinion its easier to pass
Ps:Make sure you pass F4 before passing any of the last 3 Fundamentals in order to get OBU bachelors degree.February 18, 2013 at 4:39 pm #118162well i would say f7 will be easiest , you have to just command on IAS and cash flow , yes ti is tricky but i have this the easiaest one
February 18, 2013 at 9:14 pm #118193@zmukhtar – yes, I intend to take the OBU degree.
what should I do in this case?
I want to take a easy unit which I would be able to complete self studying between my end of AAT (end of April) to the June sitting.
If F7,F8 and F9 is no option to do since I have not yet done F4, which one should I take then?
F4? F5 or F6?THANKS ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR HELPFUL ANSWERS!
February 19, 2013 at 1:09 pm #118235Well if you wish to proceed with just 1 paper for J 13, i suggest you take F5
F4 is out of question as its all theory,
F5 is very interesting paper and people find it difficult (I don’t anymore coz i passed it in December lol), so i suggest you take F5 and even if you don’t pass it in June, with some brought forward knowledge you can pass it in December with the other 2.
But then its just my opinion, I think its better if you purchase both text books go through syllabus and see what makes more sense.February 19, 2013 at 1:29 pm #118240AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

Papers F5 and F6 are computational and of the two I found F5 easier.
Then F4 and F8 are theoretical and of the two I found F4 much easier to pass.
F7 is really tricky #just saying.February 19, 2013 at 1:32 pm #118241hi, thanks zmukhtar,
But, is there a point of sitting an exam when there’s quite a chance not to pass it?
Also, I have just realized that my time is more limited than I thought it is (found out that exam is at the beginning and not middle of June)
I have only got about one and a half months.
Which one would I be able to finish in that amount of time, if any?February 19, 2013 at 1:39 pm #118243letsdothis –
Cos of the OBU degree, F7 and F8 are out of question b4 F4 (or am I wrong?), which leaves me with F4 F5 F6 to finish by December, either 1 Jun 2 Dec or 3 Dec (sounds crazy to start with three exams at one sitting or the very first time with ACCA, which is why I am looking for a easy one for June.
So you say that for a ‘numerical’ guy, F5 is recommended, so 528 pages in one and a half months, is that even possible???thanks in advance for your time and advise
February 19, 2013 at 9:43 pm #118278The kaplan books at least could be written on half the number of pages, the text is big and there is loads of blank space on every page.
Can anyone link the part of acca website where it states you have to take f4 before f7-9 to be able to get the degree?
Seems like its f4 if you like theory and no calculations, and F5 if you like numbers.February 19, 2013 at 10:26 pm #118285Regarding the BSc. My understanding is that you need to have a relevant English qualification as part of Oxford Brookes acceptance onto the degree. A relevant English qualification must be completed before any of F7-9, and F4 is deemed to be acceptable. However, there are plenty of other relevant English qualifications and a list of about 20 can be found on the Oxford Brooke’s guidance (easy to find via Google). GCSE English Literature is mentioned as are certain A Levels.
If you are a native English speaker and were educated in the UK, I don’t think there is any requirement to pass F4 first as you will already have the relevant English qualification.
February 19, 2013 at 10:34 pm #118288To the original poster – my circumstances are almost identical to yours. I also self studied AAT and completed it in 5 months. I however chose to sit F1-3 rather than taking the exemptions and I found it very helpful to condense the knowledge (there are also some bits which are not covered in AAT). I definitely felt better prepared for the later papers by doing this.
What optional modules did you take for AAT? If you did the tax modules then definitely do F6 first. I sat this 6 weeks after completing AAT and a lot of the syllabus will be very familiar.
February 20, 2013 at 7:19 am #118295all subjects are tough.
f4 is little relaxing once you memorize all the stuff. no much tricky question.
f9 is easiest ,f5 is next easy subject but there can be tricky questions inside.f7 would be easy for you if you studied accounting before. but again ACCA has a style of asking questions need practice to tackle.
my advice is take all subject as tough and give good practice score high marks.
